Crappy Hotel Report - La Quinta Pittsburgh Airport

Not sure what service this hotel uses, but here's the hotel's internal lineup:

00 - La Quinta Information
02 - CBS-KDKA
04 - ABC-WTAE
05 - ESPN
06 - TBS
07 - HBO
08 - FOX-WPGH
09 - HLN
10 - CNN
11 - NBC-WPXI
12 - Disney
13 - PBS-WQED
14 - The Weather Channel
15 - CNBC
16 - TNT
17 - A&E
18 - Fox News
19 - Discovery
20 - ESPN2
21 - USA
22 - Cartoon Network
23 - ESPN News
24 - ESPN Classic
25 - ESPN U

It uses LodgeNet, and even has a few Nintendo games available. Someone fill me in on what should be included in this lineup.

I spend a lot of time travelling. Seems like a pretty standard lineup of channels to me. Personally, I'd be neither impressed nor disappointed.

No MSNBC
No Cartoon Network for the kids
True TV would have been nice.
No Ion Channels
No E! network

Yeah I'm being picky. But actually that hotel seems to carry the most popular channels that would satisfy most guests.

No MTV? I'm also surprised WPCW (The CW) and WPMY (MyNetworkTV) are not on that lineup. Other than that, seems pretty standard...

Recently in Orlando, at a Residence Inn near the I-Drive, the motel cable had ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, CW, PBS (WMFE) and Univision (don't know if it was WVEN or the national feed), plus, I think, many of the same channels as discussed earlier, but only ESPN 1.

Don't know if this was a Lodgenet system (though it had movies and even TV shows on demand, plus a local tourism channel), though its programming was sourced from DirecTV instead of Dish, and the booths in the "bistro" downstairs had many other channels, including Animal Planet.

That sounds a lot like the LodgeNet lineup I was stuck with in Bedford Park/Chicago, back in February of 2009. :(

Well it's not cable, since WPMY (MyTV 22), WQEX (currently Home Shopping), WPCB (Christian), WPCW (CW), and from the airport
probably WTOV (NBC, Steubenville, OH) would all fall within the "must carry" zone.

I've seen some hotels that even have the local RSN's (Regional Sports Network) on their lineup. For example in Rancho Cordova, CA (near Sacramento) they had CSN Bay Area and CSN California on their lineup. Another time I stayed at a place in Sylmar, CA that had FSN West and FSN West 2 (that was quite some years ago). Most recently I was at a place in Las Vegas, NV that had FSN West on their lineup. They didn't have FSN Prime Ticket however.

Yep, typical CRAPPY Lodgenet system. Very annoying to anyone who likes to watch a little TV in their room. I'll never forget the Comfort Inn in San Mateo, CA which hadn't bothered to update it's hideously crappy hotel "cable" to include KNTV-11 (the not-so-new NBC Bay Area). So, not only didn't it offer channels like KOFY, KBCW (the local CW affiliate), nor anything in Spanish - but no NBC either.

I was in Las Vegas this recent Memorial Day weekend, and I stayed at a Motel 6 southeast of the Strip. I can't remember the channel lineup by heart exactly, but they had the major locals and others. In total, I think they had 22 channels (provided by Dish Network)...pretty lackluster.

Locals: KVBC 3 (NBC--now KSNV), KVVU 5 (Fox), KLAS 8 (CBS), KLVX 10 (PBS), KTNV 13 (ABC), KINC 15 (Univision), KVMY 21 (MyTV), KVCW 33 (CW)

Basics: CNN, HLN, TNT, TBS, USA, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNews, Cartoon Network, Discovery, TLC

Premiums: HBO, HBO2

I thought Prime Ticket was mostly geared toward Los Angeles.

Hmm... possibly.

Fox Sports West and Prime Ticket both cover Los Angeles/Southern California teams, but their service area does include Southern Nevada, Central California (sharing some coverage area with Comcast SportsNets Bay Area and California), and Hawaii.

As indicated previously, I've spent a lot of time over a lot of years in hotels.

Anyway, what amuses me is the seemingly definite dynamic of, "the redder the state, the less likely the hotel will have MSNBC".  As a political independent, it's not that I personally miss it.  Mostly, I'm just bemused...and feeling a little cheated.

hmmm....I never noticed that. Does it work both ways? (the bluer the state, the less likely they'll have Fox?)
