Crash Bash 2006

Friends of Crash Clark are throwning a party in his honor. Here is what Rodney Ho wrote:

By Rodney Ho | Friday, February 3, 2006, 12:50 PM

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Some buddies of ousted ex-99Xer Crash Clark are holding a “Crash Clark appreciation party” at Central City Tavern at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday February 11. Crash is expected to be there to party harty, with no worries about radio station sponsors and propriety and such.

Central City is near Piedmont Hospital.

From Crash:

Rock on Boys and Girls, I may not have a job but who gives a rats ass, we're gonna party like it's unemployment 2006. I'll be there between 9:30 and 10 and the Budweiser better be cold and flowing. Thanks again for the night, lets do this thing right and all of us get arrested. Peace, Crash

I agree with you BigStick. This kind of response would irritate me from a 21 year old. It's just that much more pathetic considering the situation here.

Pathetic? I would suggest that kicking a guy when he's down is pathetic.

I realize it probably makes you feel better about yourself to affect an air of superiority and to criticize Clark, but for a moment reflect on the fact that despite his issues, Crash is loved by a lot of people. To my mind, that makes him a pretty successful guy.

My comment has nothing to do with his employment status. As a matter of fact his pathetic lifestyle had something to do with him being fired. I personally just think it's embarrassing that he has never grown past this early-20s drink all night party mentality. That's all. I've never wished ill of the guy, but he's just not that engaging of a radio personality in my eyes due to his immaturity. I'm sorry that my comment offended you so, but I don't think I was "kicking him while he was down" and I certainly don't think there's anything "pathetic" about my opinion of him.

ETA: I never said anything about seeeing myself as more successful than him. I'm happy with what I have, but my own success or lack thereof also had nothing to do with my comments about him. It also doesn't concern me how many people love or hate him. None of that had anything to do with what I said. It was just a personal opinion on him and he way he behaves.
Edited by STF on 02/05/06 05:04 PM.

This society loves immature F-ups. There are too many to mention, but Howard Stern comes to mind. I wouldn't want to spend one minute with him, but I'll give him credit for being in tune with his audience. At least he's resonating with an audience, which is lost on the mega owners.

That's an excellent point when you put it that way. It would seem though at this time he might want to shy away from this kind of thing a little bit if he wants to get back on the air. Of course that's just my opinion again.

No one ever asked for your opinion to judge his life. How many chances does a radio personality get to be with the listeners of their former radio station?
Zero. I though that this is a cool thing that is being put on by a listener who thought Crash was a great guy. The website www.savecrash.org got 60,000 hits. You may not particularly like the guy, but I think he has more fans than otherwise.

Do not be too moral. You may cheat yourself out of much life. Aim above morality. Be not simply good; be good for something.

Actually I would gather that since this board exists it was a place to give opinions. I'm sorry that you don't like my opinion on this former on-air personality, but it's like that some time. I have no problem throwing a party for the guy either. I just thought his response was pathetic. Again sorry that offended you, but I stand by it. I can agree to disagree, but I have no regrets for giving my opinion in this manner. I also have no problem with you doing the same. That's how it's supposed to work.

ETA: Believe me I don't believe in any way I'm too moral for my own good as your quote might suggest.
Edited by STF on 02/05/06 08:23 PM.

Rock on boys and girls, I'm the coolest unemployed 40-year old DJ in the whole drunk tank. Woo-hoo!
