Craziest listener you've ever seen

Here's one for y'all. In honor of the knife wielding maniac who went bezerk at CC/Modesto yesterday, who's the craziest listener you've ever encontered? Mine was a guy named "Crazy Kenny", used to call in and tell us he was getting the radio station through the fillings in his teeth and that the dj's were telling him to kill people. One day he escaped from the Colorado State Hospital where he lived and came to "visit" us at the station. Mercifully, nobody was murdered and he was returned to the asylum from which he came. Honorable mention to a 1 legged woman named Ellen who once performed the world's least appealing striptease on a table at the old Porky's. Ahh, the good ole days. I know you guys got some good crazy listener stories...let's hear 'em

Crazy Listeners?

Shoot, how about co-workers? I worked with one guy, dude was a creative powerhouse, but had no common sense. He ran a bit featuring a “Gay Former Hell’s Angel.” There’s nothing like looking out of your cubicle to see a half-dozen One Percenters charging down the hall to the air studio to “discuss the situation.”

Wacky Guy…

One of my most unstable listeners was a young lady who was a family friend of our nights guy. She talked her way into the studio one night, not disclosing her relationship to my co-worker, but saying she wanted to do a “masked” strip-tease and surprise him.

Being the station was an “Animal House” this failed to pique my suspicion, and I brought her in to do her thing.

I should have known something big was coming when, in the course of an otherwise professional, if unremarkable strip-tease she produced eight knives than had been secreted about her body.

After doing her dance she pulled her mask off, sending her long-lost friend into one of the most passionate screaming fits I’ve ever had the pleasure to witness.

As it turned out, she had been the subject of several restraining orders, and was regarded by both her family and the family of my nights guy as something of a lunatic. For six months following her strip tease she called me daily (I had given her my number prior to knowing she was a dangerous psychotic) and perpetually rehashed the stripping incident, adding details with every retelling.

Because no one wanted to get written up for breaking the No Naked People Rule (again) the bosses were unaware of her status and newly expended interest in the station. So when she applied for and eventually got hired for a promotions opening you can imagine the reaction of my nights guy.

She was promptly fired for being too freakin' weird to work (in radio!). Sensibly, she began hanging around our parking lot, showing up at station events, and calling the boss to complain about a staff orgy that led to her (non-existent) pregnancy.

When I crossed the street a few years later I found out she had tried to land a position at the competition after her termination and had been making a nuisance of herself at every opportunity since.

…Wow…I miss AOR more than I thought…

Sherry in Manteca was a special one. She would listen to the radio 24/7.[EDIT]

I did have a co-worker at a station on the east coast who had to work on New Year's Eve and apparently had some sort of bowel issue. There ended up being smeared fesces on the counters, carpets, walls, and the walls of the stairway between floors. The owner had to hire quite the cleaning crew to restore the studios to being usable.

My favorite of all time is a guy who showed up to a car dealership in the market I work in now in Arizona. We were doing one of those live in it to win it new car giveaways. I had to be there for a live morning broadcast and he was there for two hours eating donuts and just kind of hanging around and then he finally came up to me and said he had something to ask me. After he pulled me aside, he wanted to know if I would be interested in joining his adult baby club. He described in detail what they did and wouldn't take no for an answer. I finally told him to call me at the station so he'd leave. He did call the next day and sent me a letter with pictures of what they did. Fortunately he left it alone after a few weeks. Then about six months later I got a package left for me at the front desk with a note containing an address and time for their adult baby club meeting and a package of Depends. No, I never went.

Craziest listener Ive ever met in person was in Fresno Years ago. Her Name was Angie Haskell. She went everywhere with her mother who looked like grandma from the ADAMS FAMILY TV SHOW. Angie would stop by and tell you how she just washed her hair..and jokeingly you asked her how long since the last time she washed it and she answered 2 years.....Years later I did a fillin air show and she showed up out of the blue to win a contest.

Now heres someone I didnt meet in person but used to Call me on The KNAX Country Request Lines in Fresno....Charles would always call me and request Clint Black and Killin Time....One day I asked questions on who Charles was..... He told me he was Charles Manson...yeah that one... I made a comment about it on the air and the Warden from the prison called me and told me it was so.....he may have been in isolation but he had phone privleges...what a scarry thought

I would have explained patiently (no pun intended) that the only time messages come through one's fillings is when one is listening to Overnight Coast to Coast, except that they don't tell anybody to kill. Heck, the guests on Coast to Coast do the translations for us. ;D
