Crazy question

I was in Tuscaloosa over the weekend when I picked up a signal on an old radio that identified itself as Kix 104 in Mobile. I listened for several minutes and heard stopsets and all with Mobile commercials etc. Does someone in that area simulcast? Or was it possible for me to be picking up a Mobile station?

you were likely actually picking it up, (104.1) there was a little bit of tropo going on, I was able to pull in KLLI from Dallas TX up here around Huntsville.

> Or was it possible for me to be picking up a Mobile station?Very possible, indeed. As was pointed out, there was nice ducting this past weekend. But, short of that, a Mobile-to-Tuscaloosa path is not a big deal, especially considering the station involved (nearly 2000' tower, 100kW).Big signals can be heard almost daily 300 miles out, or even more, via troposcatter. Even slight enhancement (a bit different than a duct) can bring it in. But, this is getting a bit esoteric.Fun stuff.
