Create Your Radio Startup

This was a thread I wanted to resurrect from a year ago or so:

You have the opportunity to start up a talk (Won't limit it to sports) station. Where is it? What frequency is it on? How will you brand your station? What is your programming schedule? The only limitation is that, in terms of syndicated programming, there can't be conflicts between you and competing stations in your market.

Market: Rochester, MN
Frequency: 89.9 FM/1520 AM
Branding: "Med City Sports 89.9/1520"

Monday-Friday:
5-9 AM Sorensen in the Morning (Morning show hosted/moderated by me that can be described as "The View" for men)
9-Noon The Tim Brando Show
Noon-3 PM Craig Shemon
3 PM-7 PM The Afternoon Show with Kent Brockman (Local PM Drive show recapping the day in news, sports, and weather while Arnie Pie brings you the latest traffic updates)
7 PM-10 PM Game/Yahoo! Sports Radio
10 PM-5 AM Yahoo! Sports Radio

Saturday:
5 AM-7 AM Public Service Programming
7 AM-10 AM Sorensen on Saturday ("Best/Worst of the Week")
10 AM-Midnight Yahoo! Sports Radio/PBP

Sunday:
Midnight-Midnight Yahoo! Sports Radio/PBP

PBP: This is where it gets tough. Gophers, Twins, Wolves, and Wild all taken so time to get creative.

NCAA: Iowa Hawkeye football/men's and women's basketball and coaches' shows
MLB: Chicago Cubs baseball

In case of conflict, Hawkeyes are carried on AM, Cubs on FM.

i like this idea.

market: louisville, kentucky
frequency: 950 am
brand: 950 KPTL Kentucky's Progressive Talk in Louisville

11a-12p This Week in the Unions (replay)
12p-3p The Ed Shultz Show (replay)
3p-9p (same as saturday)
9p-12a The Norman Goldman Show (replay)

the beautiful thing about this schedule is because there are zero seconds of progressive talk in this city, i can program that schedule with zero conflicts. most of my schedule is live which is how i think most stations should run. as to why thom hartmann instead of randi rhodes (who both share the same timeslot)? simple- i like thom a whole lot more than i like randi. plus i also love the old time radio shows and i think it is a lost art.
