Credibility question

I was browsing some radio sites, and I see that KDWN has "Exclusive Interviews" on their homepage with Mitt Romney. On the KXNT homepage, there are also interviews with various candidates including Romney. How can KDWN say it is exclusive, when it is clearly not?

Also, the introduction to Heidi Harris' show says she is the top local host (without referencing the timeslot).

I would think this hurts KDWN's credibility. It seems this station tries to fib in order to bolster their image. How can it be allowed that a station says things that are not true, and no one seems to call them on it?

I would really love to hear a true, all-news station in Las Vegas, however, I'm not sure I can trust KDWN (or KXNT for that matter).

I don't think we will ever have an all-news station in Las Vegas. The only markets that have the format are NY, LA, Chicago, San Francisco, Philadelphia, DC, and Detroit...all top 10 markets except for Detroit which recently fell out of the top 10.

It's a very expensive format to run, although it can make money as well, for example WBBM-AM is the #1 billing station in Chicago.

Having two local updates an hour on KDWN 24/7 isn't bad IMO, it's better than what we used to have.

I'm very interested in the caucus and have not heard ANY updates on KDWN (They are broadcasting infomercials). KXNT is broadcasting a local show with alot of updates each hour.

Mr. Tannenbaum on KDWN filed a report from the caucauses about 2 hr ago, it's now 230pm.

Due to that annoying financial infomercial, I had to go on line to hear the first hour of Bob Brinker's Moneytalk from KIRO in Seattle. Beasely should petition Boyce to get live clearance for all six hours.

I didn't listen to much radio today, but KDWN has news updates at the top and the bottom of every hour. You're telling me the anchor completely ignored the caucus every time? That makes me question YOUR credibility.

I was driving around this afternoon and early evening. I wanted Nevada caucus and South Carolina primary results. Here is my review of the talk stations election coverage.

KDWN-The worst infomercial I ever heard. An inarticulate elderly man was hawking some type of product. This show was so bad I really couldn't get a grasp of what he was trying to sell. Like I have said before KDWN on the weekend is unlistenable..I know these shows are easy money, but they are really bad radio..especially on such an important day.

KXNT-Late in the morning they gave caucus results and commentary. By the afternoon they ran their usual schedule of syndicated financial, medical, and legal shows. I know they run these shows every weekend so what are they going to do, but they sounded so irrelevant today. Here is a station that has great political talk Monday-Friday...then on a big political day when you crave political talk more then ever you hear these boring specialty shows. Hearing them gave me a melancholy feeling, I guess they always do, but especially today.

KDOX-I heard Tammy Bruce and figured it was a tape delayed repeat of one of her weekday shows. Then I heard her say it was live. Very impressive. She gave up to the minute results for both Nevada and South Carolina. She gave excellent analysis and opinion as well. It was everything I wanted from a talk station on a day like this. I couldn't have been more pleased. KDOX had by far the best programming of the three talk stations this afternoon!

Wow, you don't have to get personal. My point was that if they had updates, I wasn't going to listen to snake oil infomercials in between to get my news.

The other point to my post was that if you call something "exclusive", or the "top", doesn't it have to be in order to call it that? And if a station is fibbing by NOT being exclusive, or top, doesn't that affect the credibility of that station, especially in a news format? (BTW, I see that the website has changed since my fist post, but the question still remains)

"the talk station" "the official traffic station" "the official weather report" "the only station that's live all day" "number one" etc. Get used to it. I noticed Duncan Hunter who HH on kdull was promoting got 2000 votes in Nevada...that must be all of her audiance. Glad he dropped out. To bad HH won't take his lead.

Stations over hyping themselves is not unique to this market or this time period, it's been going on forever.
