Creed Taylor had his hands on some of the most memorable jazz hits of the 60s and 70s, from Stan Getz to George Benson. If you remember the theme to the TV show Taxi or Deodato's jazz take on Also Sprach Zarathustra, you know Creed Taylor's work:

Beginning in the early '50s, Taylor treated his projects and artists with lush care and extensive support, eventually creating a Grammy-winning, cross-genre artistic hub with his label, CTI.
