criticizing new hosts already?

I noticed alot of people are bashing Helen Glover already and she's been only on for 2 weeks and now everyone's bashing Howie Bart and he hasnt even been on yet. Have any of you ever been talk show hosts or are you those annoying callers that everyone knows and makes fun of?? Every talk show host that's mentioned on here is crazy. Depetro, Yorke, Arlene- they all have these huge egos and the best one of the bunch is now in Boston. I think it's time for a new wave of talk show hosts. WHJJ's arlene needs to move on and let some new blood take over. Once wpro loses the redsox and steve kass, things will start to work for whjj. although, i think matt allen is good and will help them alot. if you look at the trends, arlene and yorke arent that far apart. why is that?

The same thing used to happen more with jock bashing. Talk radio in medium markets is something more attainable to people with no radio experience & there may be more resentment among those trying to move up through the ranks. You also have a factor here of people not able or allowed to talk on the air with the hosts they're calling so this board is an outlet. Frustrated jocks now seem to be more careful when they vent publicly as it can come back at them even if they're anonymous unless they cover their tracks online well. Then of course,Providence music radio isn't interesting enough to dissect right now.

Here is why:

This is a radio board. We discuss radio. They are on the radio.

I have never hosted a talk show, but yes, I have called, and I produced a show about 15-20 years ago. I'm not a regular though, no.

Howie Bart has been on the air filling in for quite a while. I think it's fair that he is mentioned. And Helen Glover has also been on the air for a quite a while. No one is bashing her, just making observations about the show.

You're right, it IS time for a new wave of talk-show hosts. I don't see any new ones on the horizon for WHJJ. These are novelty acts. It's like David Lee Roth filling in for Howard. Might be interesting for a few days to see what he does, but then the novelty wears off ... what happens?

If WHJJ really wanted to make a run, they would have hired Matt Allen. Instead, the station is turning into an extended version of Arlene's whack pack. I click back and forth between Helen and Matt as they go head to head. No comparison. The only time Helen's got my complete attention is between 12 and 1 when Matt is off the air.

As for the Red Sox, WPRO may be losing them, but WEEI is picking them up. Those ratings are just going to them. No transfer to WHJJ.

Line of the year! And its the truth. I wonder if HJJ will grab Rush from PRO?
There have also been rumors about Depetro doing a simile cast on HJJ from RKO. Howie did it with PRO, Why Not???
By the way ; for those who think PRO will get Arlene .
Arlene will NEVER leave HJJ for PRO, because SHE wouldn`t be in charge... It`s that simple...

I totally agree with you about her not being in charge. I hear whatever arlene gets she wants. she also gets away with treating people on her show like crap and the management says, "well, arlene is arlene"

That would be the first step in rebuilding HJJ, I think. If that happens, though, I assume HJJ will end up using Clear Channel shows for the bulk of their programming, including adding Glenn Beck - which would be a smart move opposite Matt Allen.

Have those rumors existed anywhere other than this web site? I don't think DePetro will be back on RI radio for a long time, possibly never.
