Crummey is out!

It wouldn't have made any difference if he hadn't misrepresented from the start that he was broadcasting from Phoenix.

LOL! If I was Joe Adams, I'd make you refer to me by my God-given name...MR...RON...BURGUNDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STAY CLASSY, CRUMMEY. ;)

Oh No! Does this mean the Wheel Of Hosts returns to KFWhyEye? The Nurse and I always thought the Evil One was the best PMDriver the station had. And the fact he did his show from el Lay made no difference..except to TMISU who couldn't accept a local show from out of the market beating their beloved News 92~Three, where Hip Hop used to live. HAHAHAHAHA! Thanks for the Crummey ride home, Joe!

The local Cheap Channel honchos finally removed the "hidden"
Joe Crummey page on the 55/FYI website--you now get 404ed
there too. But he still remains on the programming schedule page
as of 9:08pm PT. (Psst! Dude Boss, you missed one.)

So let's start (continue?) the speculation on where our fave but
Crummey talkmeister might wind up, and this assumes he could
still ISDN it from El Lay. But he probably can't keep the voice
imaging of Senor Pescador.

For wild speculation, how about mornings at WFAN? ;D Just kidding.

For tongue-in-cheek speculation, there's an afternoon drive opening
at Lumberyard 1440, as the EVOO Radio Network detached itself from
over-the-air broadcasting earlier in the week.

Crummey could do 4-7, then stick around spinning the oldies until
sign off from May through August--at least then we'd have a better
chance of KAZG doing a legal ID at the end of the broadcast day.

The only intangible is if Joe can correctly guess at what time the
lamp timer will pull the plug each day and duck in the ID just before
it happens.

Oh, and before he signs the contract with Gumpdusky, he should make
sure it contains two clauses: 1) he can do the show from El Lay, and
2) during his show there will be no promos aired for the Nancy Pelosi
Fan Club. ;)

His ratings were so much higher than KTAR's that it drove clear channel to........................... FIRE HIM.

This is too bad. Joe is a good guy.

That was not meant to be negative...one of his colleagues has a picture on her desk of Joe from his newsdays in the '70s, and the Ron Burgundy-ness of it all is a running joke. ;)

And if they replaced Crummey with Dan Babich and the International Hour, they would STILL beat KT'R. It's THAT bad.

And Crummey was THAT good. Just like BJ.

LOL.

Given that ClearChannel really wants to go low-budget these days with their sale coming up, let's consider local options for the Crummey replacement, since ClearChannel probably doesn't want to spend money moving somebody in to Phoenix (like KTAR did with Ankarlo).

There's Jim Sharpe - - he's already in-house at KFYI and an experienced talker, but the CC brass probably won't do this because they don't want to disrupt the news department. Very shallow, short-term thinking, but probably true.

There's Austin Hill - - he already works for ClearChannel / LA and KFI, and can do much better than the dreadful Liddy and Hill show. Plus KFYI seems to like to copy whatever KFI does. Could happen.

There's Preston Westmoreland - - a market legend. Okay, never mind.

There's JD Hayworth - - the "nearly-elected JD" has been "m.i.a." lately. Probably more interested in national cable tv stuff, kinda like Joe Scarborough / MSNBC when he left Congress. Could happen. But probably not.

There's Leibowitz - - Could happen, but probably not.

There's Miguel Broomhead (or however you spell "broom head") - - he's green, but probably works cheap. The "my brother got killed in Iraq" stuff is - - no disrespect to a fallen soldier - - getting old. Kinda like wanna-be talk show host Fred Goldman with the "O.J. Simpson killed my son" routine. Very limited. But Broomhead can and does perform better than that. With coaching, he's got it. Could happen. And a budget saver too.

There's Heidi Foglesong - - Okay, never mind.

The two most likeley scenarios:

Mike Broomhead

OR

Syndicated Michael Savage Live Afternoon Drive (a REAL budget saver)

Broomhead sounds like a nice guy, lots of passion, but not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and who the hell wants to hear immigration rants all day?

Terry Gilberg, shrill annoying voice, one issue host (immigration)

Roberta Gale, after 5 minutes I am making a noose for myself and looking for a rafter to fasten the rope.

Jim Sharpe, again, a nice guy, but its bland vanilla stuff.

Liebowitz, smart, witty, informed talk by a guy with a sense of humor (but a terrible sense of film tastes), a great addition, will never happen at Cheap Channel.

Austin Hill, great at KFI where he doesn't have to dumb down and do cutesy, brainless chit chat, will never happen.

So, after all this, I know for a fact who the replacement will be:

SCOTT CONNOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

;D ;D ;D Is KFYI sucking where you are at? ;D ;D ;D

ouch!

I was hoping for a Brian James - Michael Savage Drive-Time Block!

Its JD.

Dear god.

Blustery nonsense all afternoon.

Time to fire up the internet for something good, anything.

KFYI has really gone into the crapper.

JD will be great. He gets media, and he knows just the kind of red meat to throw to the KFYI audience.....he'll improve on Crummey's ratings imediately, and i have nothing against Crummey. I thought he was an excellent broadcaster. I just know conservative talk radio well, and what it takes to build an audience. Bomb-throwers like Savage get ratings....JD will fit right in.

That leaves Young as the only one not a red meat dude. Bad move.

OK, I'm bummed that Joe is off the air.

Now I'm more interested in finding out were he ends up and will I be able to get the signal.
In my 15 years of listening to Phoenix talk radio, Joe was by far the best for the drive at five.

JD will be fine but I got a feeling I'll be finding my music collection soon.
