Crush 105.7 About To Be Extinguished...

...and I was right :) It'd be nice to be able to listen to Hot 105.7 all the way down to around Exit 18 and switch to either Hot 97 or Power 105 around there, and the move to a full-power signal might force Jamz to eventually either flip formats or move to a stronger frequency (100.9 is the only option for Pamal though :p)

Hopefully they play a decent selection of 90s hip-hop/R&B on Hot 105.7 though :) Sorry, I get tired of Nicki Minaj 10 times a day...

Good luck with that move! I remember last year when "Crush-FM" started at 105.7, but it comes right into Kingston since day 1, but about a month later, it gets interfered with WKZE's translator at 105.9 in Red Hook W290BZ, and it sucks. That happened last year, but it will happen again. I went camping a few weeks ago but it comes out loud and clear in Catskill, but on the other hand, it still interfers itself. I hope "Crush" would move to 99.1 and move "Hot" to 105.7, but I'm not a big hip-hop fan at all, and good luck interfering with the WKZE's translator at 105.9. WQSH at 105.7 is still bleeding WKZE's translator at 105.9 in Red Hook sounds horrible.

Late yesterday afternoon the dynamic billboard on 787 south of 90 had an ad saying 105.7 was going to be "HOT!" -- it gave a day and time but I didn't write it down and promptly forgot. It might have said 5 p.m. Thursday but I can't swear to that.

Any guesses for the final song on Crush? How about either "End of the Road" or "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday" by Boyz II Men or maybe "Changes" by Tupac Shakur ;)

Is there likely to be a (meaningful) final song if, as suspected, Crush simply moves to the 99.1 translator/105.7-HD2?

I can't do an aircheck of the format flip, because it is continue to interfere with a 105.9 translator in Red Hook which they're running WKZE where it bleeds into 105.7, and I'm in Kingston right now, and I can't get 105.7 from here due to a signal translator interference with W290BZ which is WKZE where they running this thing from 98.1. What a disaster! I hope that I can't pick up 99.1 because of the two stations including WGNY's "Fox Oldies" at 98.9 and a WRWD simulcast at 99.3. That's why I can't pick that up.

Yep, I saw a billboard today which said "Something HOT is coming to 105.7 FM Friday at 5PM" :) I'll make sure to record both sides of the flip so I don't miss anything ;)

To coin a phrase;

Really?

Really?

Really!

Best of luck!

So the Hot format stays where it's been. Who was spreading this so called news that there would be a switch between 105.7 and 99.1?? Was it Towncrooked Media?

And here I was all happy and relieved that Crush was going to be spared. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Crush was my favorite out of all the "Gen-X" type stations out there - I thought they did a great job of capturing the feel of the era I grew up in. The songs they threw in from the late 80's and early 2000's were well-picked and didn't clash with the 90's music. But I guess this type of format just doesn't have legs.

I wonder how much longer 102.3 Kiss FM will be around now... I don't think Albany would be able to support 5 CHR/AC-type formats (between FLY, B95, River, Kiss and now Crush) for very long ;)

The next few months ought to look interesting... who will flip to Christmas this year? B95 and River? Maybe WKKF if they'll be changing formats?
