CRYING WOLF

Many of the comments are dead on with what is going on with the Wolf.
Lets see if after the meeting yesterday with their consultant Lorna if the things that were brought up make an impact. My guess is no. Fitz doesn't take the input offered by her and it goes in one ear and out the other. She has some brilliant ideas and suggestions yet when you are paying someone like her to consult your show and or station and you don't use that resource then what good is it??? Fitz seems to think he knows it all and shuns any and all input.

The clock is ticking on this shipwreck and without solid leadership and direction it's only time befor Possum or Fitz is shown the door and they decide to go in a different direction....Warp Factor 9....engauge!

I would think that these issues would be best if ironed out by the fall book but who knows what will really happen.

Perhaps you are part of the morning show yourself and your intentions are to violate private information regarding this station.

Wouldn't it be something courageous if all of you gossipers would come out and id yourselves, or are you worried you might be caught. Are there any among you that personally work at the WOLF - come on, out yourselves!

Well there, "moses", it sure seems you have a keen interest in this topic - so maybe if YOU identify yourself, others may follow suit. Or may not.

I can totally believe that!

Wolf concept is based on 99.5 The Wolf in Dallas which was an amazing station until Cumulus came in and screwed it up. Fitz worked their briefly in-between gigs. I've never met a radio guy with a bigger ego, and they had some great talent (before Cumulus) in that building.

He asked me once if I'd ever listened to his morning show on whatever station he was on in Dallas before Wolf. "Nope. Never heard of you before you walked in here."

That went over well. Jock ego. What's the point?

Have any of you discussed this situation with Richards or McKenna? Doesn't Entercom have a regional manager based there too? KMPS has to be lovin all of this. Mike Moore in Portland is the VP/Country Programming, he's an email away at [email protected]

moses= possum. It's gotta be! Or at least someone in KKWF programming. They created an account just to speak the above.

Well moses, maybe some of the people posting on this board NEED to stay anonymous to keep their jobs. This is the only place they can vent without 'the man' coming down on him/her. We know PD's, OM's, GSM's, etc. all read this board for a little chuckle every now and then.

But it is kind of funny that moses wants people to identify themselves but he has yet to identify himself.

I am Moses... I am not the PD at the Wolf! However, I am in radio and think that those of you who have nothing better to do than spread rumors and company private information will no doubt be found out in time; and if you work at the station you are slamming I hope you get what you deserve. It's a shame, a "Crying Wolf" shame, that your negative voice exists at all. It's one thing to voice your opinion regarding your likes and dislikes, but (and I must say it again) to reveal company private information is totally wrong.

Possum is out as Pd. Back to PM drive and Music Director duties. Jerry McKenna says this is exciting.

Besides the chewing-you-out part, Moses makes a good point...

I think this is a good reminder to those of you who work in the business to remember that posting insider information on any discussion boards or chat rooms, especially from a company computer will result in losing your job. Rest assured the company IT department can watch what you do. Even posting proprietary information from home about what goes on at work is really risky, besides being totally unprofessional.

From All Access

ENTERCOM Country KKWF (THE NEW 100.7 THE WOLF)/SEATTLE is making a few big changes in the lineup. PD ROB "POSSUM" WALKER will be going back on the air for afternoon drive and stepping off the PD post to resume his APD/MD title. [EDIT]

[EDIT-truncated because article was cited verbatim from a copyprotected source in excess of fair use standards. In the future please give credit to All Access and paraphrase the citation instead of using such a sizeable quote.]

The 'afternoon drive guy' at The Wolf is one Jo Jo Kincaid, who is indeed well over 50.

He used to work in San Diego in the early seventies at KCBQ, a legendary AM top 40 station from the sixties and seventies.

Two of his co-workers when he crossed the street to FM at CHR/Pop B-100 in the early seventies were voiceover guru and multi-market morning radio superstar Charlie Van Dyke, and 'Shotgun' Tom Kelly, who was Billboard's top 40 radio personality of the year at B-100 in 1971 or 1972, when Van Dyke was the PD.

'Shotgun' has been doing PM drive for several years now at legendary Oldies station KRTH/Los Angeles.

If those jocks at KKWF don't get their acts together, they're going to destroy the rapid success which KKWF has enjoyed since beating KMPS in adults 25-54 much faster than they had expected, as their PD told Lon Helton several months ago.

Is Jo Jo VoiceTracking from SFO? I thought he held that PM post at The Wolf there. Am I just out of the loop?

Wow, what a thread about 100.7 The wolf. I have to say first of all that I am NOT in the radio industry in Seattle. I am simply a listener. I've spoken tons of times with Valerie, the music director (now former music director), and I really liked her and miss her now that she's gone. The poster who said sometime in the middle of July that she was going to get out before the ship sinks definitely knew what they were talking about. She told me that she missed Colorado and that's why she was going home, that she was taking a MAJOR cut in pay to move back home and also moving to mornings. I believed her when she told me that, and don't know if she left because of the infighting that's apparently going on after reading through this thread. But I have no reason to think she'd lie to me.

I've had nothing but positive dealings with Rob the Possum and Sean, the new nighttime DJ. My dealings with Fitz, however, are a different story. I really don't want to get into it here, but what the previous poster said about him not taking suggestions or listening to people are definitely true. When he first came on the air he was humble and made us think that he was all about the listeners, but now he has completely changed. He wants to be a comedian and do on air bits, but I'm sorry, I already get Sirius satellite radio and listen to the Howard Stern show for my comedy. I want music from the Wolf. Fitz will not take a suggestion to save his life. In fact, the other day he had one of those bits where he was asking his listeners what they would change about the show. I called in, spoke to Kristen the Intern, and she wouldn't put my suggestion through.

Well, this is my first post on this board, but I am going to read through everything and find out what there is to talk about here. Thanks to everyone for their information and everyone have a fantastic day!

I have a few pieces of negative information about KMPS, but I'll save that for a different thread.

There is no in-fighting at the WOLF! I work on the air at the WOLF unlike any of you on this blog, bla, bla, bla. Valerie Hart didn't leave for any other reason other than her home has always been in Colorado and wanted her daughter to grow up with all her family members. Val is happy to be home but loved working at the WOLF and misses everyone. How do I know this? Unlike any of you here, I have her phone number and spoke with her yesterday. Val is a class act and would never speak out against anyone to a LISTENER! Fitz cares very much about the people on his team, the radio listeners and the job he does everyday. Fitz is offering Seattle something different than KMPS - get it? It's just different and you don't have to love him but apparently there are plenty who do. The Possum is a great guy to work with, LOBO is a fantastic talent and one of the finest people in radio; and Sean Kramer is also offering Seattle something new at night - wake up! Here's a thought... try posting a positive comment for a change and see if you don't feel better about yourselves.

This is definitely Possum posting. No one walking the halls at Entercom says that. I can personally attest to that. If everything is fine and dandy at The Wolf, then why was Possum-- moses, you being Possum can probably answer this best -- why was Possum DEMOTED to apd/md?

Something positive... hmmm. I enjoy listening to Lobo and think he is one of the better jocks in Seattle, that's something positive right? Moses, I gotta tell ya, I'm feeling pretty dang good about myself right now because I took your advice! I think Possum should move to mid-days and Lobo back to his rightful spot at afternoon drive. Crap, there I go talking negatively again.

Crying wolf must have gotten to hot leftover chili outta someone's trash can. Anything that craps in the woods and run by a possum has to be in trouble. ARooooooooooooooo! Get that Wolf some ice cream......... [EDIT] ::) ::) ::)

[EDIT-vulgar content]

Becky has got be laughing all the way to the bank on this. Entercom is this weird kind of company where there is a top-brass and local management and nothing in-between.

The iceberg has been hit and we are taking on water....Now a rudderless ship without any one with quality leadership to run the day to day operations things are set a drift on memory bliss at 1100 Olive Way. I think Fitz is in need of a babysitter, Possum in need of a shrink as he is now insecure, and doubting his ability to be a programmer and how long will he even be on air there now as things could even unravel even more. Is there someone else being looked at that may come in and do afternoon drive? humm.....The doubt has been cast in the minds of many about his leadership and overall ability to lead and program as well as get along well with others.

Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey......

Nice PM Dawn and Steam tie-in. No doubt these guys need help.
