CSN announcement this week

Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia will make a major announcement this week.

The fact that Julius reported it first is the most important thing.

Stories have no credibility until it has passed the Julius May newsdesk.

I got the info via last night's SportsNite show that on Tuesday at 5 PM on Daily News Live, a major announcement will be made during that show concering their channel.

The big announcement which they claim "will change the way you watch your Philly sports teams" is supposed to be on Tuesday during DNL at 5. Of course our crack investigator (or investigator on crack, I dunno) Julius May doesn't let anything passed him.

So let's speculate. Could it be that they may finally be going on DBS? My guess is no and its probably something presentation related. DNL and SportsNite/Rise have been using the same music and graphics since '04 and '06 respectively. I know they've been working on a new look for SportsNite/Rise since at least March (there's already a new theme in place).

Which anyone watching would have also seen. So with no additional information...um, yeah, pretty useless.

Maybe they're moving out of as Pierre calls it "the big joint" into Channel 6's new studio. Or maybe they'll move into the Spectrum in November.

According to promos and the teases anchor have been making, it has to do with programing.

About 60 minutes' worth.

Seriously, the channel is a sports channel--so they should be doing less sports news?

Honestly they need to fill the black hole that is the block from 12:30PM - 4PM. I mean do they really need 3 hours of infomercials here?

It would be great if the announcement was..."The embargo has ended.CSN Philly will now be available on Direct TV.

THAT would be the only announcement anyone wants to hear.

I have Verizon FiOS and I get Comcast Philadelphia on 76 and Comcast Mid Atlantic on 77. This being the case I can't see why Comcast would favor one competitor over another.

I don't think they are favoring Verizon, I think that they have to put CSN on FiOS cause it is considered a cable carrier. They have to share it with the other cable carriers but they don't have to share it with DBS carriers.
