Without any fanfare? This new channel has been talked about for over a year, and there have been plenty of articles in The Chronicle online and other media leading up to the 10/1 launch. I DVR'd the actual launch at 5pm--high energy montage of Houston sports along with an overview of what the new channel will be covering.

Very first studio interview was with Jeremy Lin. Sounded like someone was running a vacuum cleaner in the background--looks like there's a studio AC noise problem they need to deal with.

In the meantime, I notice that the old Comcast SportsNet Southeast feed on Xfinity channel 129 has disappeared.
