Hello, all. I'm Howard. Retired in rural eastern Vermont after a 45-year career in the newspaper business in Arkansas and Connecticut, mainly as a copy editor, though I also spent three years as a sports writer/editor/photographer and for a while wrote about country music. No experience in radio other than doing a little guest commentary -- just once -- on high school football at an Arkansas AM. My boss happened to be listening that night and didn't mince words the next morning in telling me I was never to do ANYTHING to help our main competitor for advertising again. Radio has been an obsession for me since my single-digit years, fiddling with the multiband console at my grandparents' place. I pestered talk show hosts and DJs, won a bunch of trivia call-ins on local radio and essay/letter-writing contests on shortwave right through my college years, and even today I have frequent impulses to contribute to stations' Facebook pages or Messenger chats. I discovered Radio-Info many years ago after having been on the Boston Radio Interest mailing list for years before that. My fascination with radio, especially the "inside baseball" stuff of music and formatting, continues unabated.
