CT Weather Forecaster passes away :(

First, Herb Clarke in Philadelphia, and now Dr. Mel.

The forecast for meteorologists in the Northeast is quite torrid so far this year. :-\

Mel was just as friendly off the air as he was on television. I got a chance to see him a few months back at the Connecticut Broadcaster's Association conference. You could tell his health wasn't the best but the last thing I expected was for him to pass away in such a short time. He was a fighter, beating the disease for 16 years.

The man, his wit as well as his personality will certainly be missed.

I always liked his daily column in the Hartford Courant. When I was away at school my parents would occasionally cut out and send me an article from the paper. Both informative and entertaining.
