CTS pulls Word TV...

CTS pulled Word tv from their programming:

"CTS, the broadcaster of "Word TV" was found to have violated the codes over comments on the practices of gay and lesbians, while mischaracterizing the revision of the Ontario school curriculum and government funding of Pride parades."

I believe the CBSC decision was the right one; however, it is clear to me that the complainant has an obvious anti-Christian agenda, something that sadly is growing in Canada. I am glad the CBSC put their foot down and defended the right to free speech and discussion of sensitive issues.

What I'd like to know is if the complainant disliked the program so much, why did he keep watching it for months and continue filing complaints? Hasn't he got better things to do with his time? If someone doesn't like something on TV they can always change the channel.

I've never watched Charles McVety, but from what I have read he is extremely tame compared to Pat Robertson or some of the other American televangelists. McVety went too far with some of his comments, but some of the discussions cited in the CBSC decision were very good, philosophical ones that need to be had in our democracy. Sadly some people don't believe in free, philosophical discussion and think their viewpoint is the only one that should be reflected in the media.

Maybe he was looking for any offensive material to report on.

Of course, McVety's views on things and the other's views on the same topics are two different things.

Though, knowing Pat's demeanor, no doubt he would agree with what McVety said about gays and sex education.

As long as he doesn't tow the same line as Pat Robertson or, maybe, Fred Phelps, I'm okay with that.
