In recent months, CTV parent Bell Media has made numerous layoffs, including some high-profile on-air personnel at some CTV shows and at some CTV television and Bell Media radio stations.
But now comes a headline making termination: Lisa LaFlamme has been laid off after 35 years at the network, the last eleven as weeknight anchor of CTV's national evening newscast. Ms. LaFlamme had the unenviable task of replacing one of Canada's all-time great broadcast journalists, Lloyd Robertson, but it appeared that she had done an excellent job despite the pressure of replacing a legend like Robertson.
