Cubby and Cindy Vero morning show not bad.

Tuned into their morning show this morning and was pleasantly surprised. When Cubby originally said that they would be playing more music in the morning I figured it would be more music with less of a talk format. But the talk format is still there. This morning Cubby and Cindy were gabbing about what stuff they'd like to bring back, and asked listeners to call in on what song they're embarassed to admit is on their IPod. The show is actually a solid morning program. That leaves Fresh 102.7 as the worst station in the morning in New York City. If I had to categorize the options it would probably be in this order from best to worst from my samplings. These are all FM. On the AM dial Don Imus is clearly the ruler.

1. Z100 Morning Zoo.
2. Jim Kerr and Shelli Sonnenstein
3. Cubby and Cindy
4. Steve Harvey Morning Show
5. Karen and Christine
6. Dan Taylor on CBS 101 ( Which is a shame because Taylor is excellent but is eclipsed by the competition, and even more so because on Mid-days there is not one person better than the exceptional and best radio DJ in the country Bob Shannon.)
7. Dave Pakar on Fresh 102.7

You mean the traffic lady is now a "member" of the morning show, just like the pairing over at 'LTW? Is this what Clear Channel meant by "less is more", or what?

Despite the implied slight, Cindy is a genuine talent in her own right. CC did not "settle" by hiring her instead of someone with what you might consider a more traditional background. I've known Cindy for at least a decade and she is sharp, funny, quick, and does voices. I always thought she would be great with her own show, and it's to CC's credit that they recognised that also and didn't discount her because she was "just the traffic lady". You should give her a listen and judge her on her current merits, not her previous position.

Having met Ms. Vero on several occassions, I can tell you she is a true radio pro. And more than that, she actually cares and respects her listeners. She is a true professional. Glad she was given a chance to do more than traffic.

the only thing corny about his show is the kiddie corner, when I first heard that I was like wtf?

Cindy has also been doing double duty with on Clear Channel's WALK-FM, providing Trafiic and Entertainment reports on the morning show with a repeat of the Showbiz news during the Afternoon drive.

Is this a segment in which kids tell jokes? I know for years, KTU's morning show had a "joke-off" segment as well as a "kid joke-off" segment.

It's the same thing as when Baltazar and Goumba Johnny had their 7:20 Junior Joke Off.... Hey, if it pleases the soccer mom's that are the core demographic, then more power to KTU. Besides, it's kinda funny if not cute... Some of the kids tell better jokes than people my age.. Then again, in order to tell a good joke, usually my friends would have to be sober nonetheless.

You have no clue do you? First of all, Cindy was a co-host with Baltazar and Ghoumba and has been doing traffic (Which is not a job to be taken lightly) while waiting for the right show to come along. Second, LTW has 2 qualified co-hosts. Neither is a "traffic lady" in your words. Stop being a Clear Channel basher because of what you read. They happen to take care of those they can. Cindy is sharp, funny and a great person. She and Cubby are a great fun pairing.
