Cumulous rumors

Anyone know if there is validity to the rumor that Cumulous is going to signal swap All News with The Walk? Hearing rumors they will be pulling the plug on All News and just running it bare bones off satellite feed.

Running All News off of what satellite feed? I find the Walk a nice concept i don't see it working on a 100kw signal. Mostly News 106.7 is not going to a translator, it may be ditched but not moved to 97.9 or 98.9 fm.

I thought "the" rumor was that AN and Rock100.5 were going to swap signals... ?

While we are doing rumors, why was both parts of the mid day team off today?

a) coincidence b) it's just as easy on that shift to fill for two people as it is for one... perhaps easier because the replacement doesn't have the added pressure of working into a co-anchor rhythm. It's harder than it sounds. And Randy is used to the solo thing.

Regular Guys mentioned something about the station moving to a bigger signal and that it would be happening later this week. This was discussed this morning around 7am during Calls from the General Public. They said that the cat had already been let out of the bag and that the station was making a bigger move later this week.

Sure the show isn't on repeat from about the last week of January? And what "bigger" signal could Rock 100.5 move to?? 106.7, 101.5, and 99.7 are out of the question leaving absolutely no moving room.

Why is 106.7 out of the question? Moving Rock to 106.7 would pick up more of ATL as well as Athens. Meanwhile, 100.5 would give AN better building penetration downtown and the coverage could be stretched a little if they turned the stereo off altogether. You'd lose some exurban coverage to be sure, but I think you'd pick up more than you'd lose. Rock bills very well and AN supposedly does, too.

All News to 100.5 isn't completely outside the realm of possibility, though I think it's very unlikely and impractical. In my line of work, broadcast marketing, moving a new show or broadcast platform to another location less than a year post-launch is a huge mistake. You've had very little time to gain a following, and even if you did have a sizable following, their habit of tuning in would be thrown off completely.
