With Cumulus' acquisition of Dial Global as part of their deal with Townsquare Media, announced yesterday, here is the company's line-up of weekday talk shows. Is it enough to challenge Clear Channel?

Imus in the Morning
Bill Press
Stephanie Miller
Geraldo Rivera
Herman Cain
Thom Hartmann
Dennis Miller
Mike Huckabee
Ed Schultz
Clark Howard
Savage Nation
Mark Levin
John Batchelor
Jim Bohannon

SO-SO not many people who would appeal to young people however. of course they are not listening anyway I would like to see them all locked in a room, that would be entertaining.

My take is that talk programming is at the bottom of the priority list in this merger. As evidenced by those names.

And truthfully, where would CC be if Rush retired tomorrow?

You left out Jon Grayson who should definitely appeal to a younger audience. His show originates at KMOX so he might actually work for CBS but the show is distributed by Dial Global.

Dial Global is now Westwood One. They've changed the URL but that's about it.

It says, "Dial Global offers some of the most respected names in Talk Radio. Choose from political pundits like Neal Boortz, Bill Press, & Michael Smerconish, progressives like Thom Hartmann and MSNBC’s Ed Schultz, Consumer Activist and TV host Clark Howard, or political satirist and funny woman Stephanie Miller."

The Dial Global name has been retired and Neal Boortz and Michael Smerconish are no longer on terrestrial radio, but no matter.

Is DG/WW1's line-up of progressive hosts (Press, Miller, Hartmann, Schultz) history or will Cumulus decide to start clearing them on their stations with the intent of actually making a go of progressive talk?
