Cumulus airstaff cuts

Sorry to hear about that
I got the axe this time last year from WNSX
And its been Rough!
Getting back in to radio is next to impossible!
I think we all have to come to the realization
that a radio career does'nt last Forever
not in these economic times!
Joe

Did NOT hear Dave Glidden Today?
He's my Next Door Neighbor
Hope He's Okay
What a Biz

Those of you who got the ax at Cumulus might want to take a look at this...
Lew Dickey made $900,000 in base salary last year from Cumulus - but took home over $10 million.
The stock awards were rich and sweet, with part of the $8,560,300 coming as a one-time grant "as an inducement to Mr. Dickey to enter into his employment agreement." You might look at that from the outside and wonder why, with the stock price trading as low as $1.76 on Friday, any company's board would do that. But Cumulus is becoming more and more Lew's company. He now holds 31% of the voting power, thanks to his ownership of all the 10-votes-per-share Class C stock. And it's been Lew who's assembled this company. So here's a quick look at executive compensation for Cumulus in 2007: Lew doubled his 2006 total compensation of $5,033,476 to make $10,174,526 in 2007. Brother John Dickey, one of the two EVP/co-COOs, actually made a bit less in total comp - $1,359,972, down from $1,510,644. Jon Pinch, his fellow EVP/co-COO, also made less in 2007 - $835,478, down from $933,631 in 2006. While CFO Marty Gausvik likewise banked less - $760,119, down from $853,045

I sure hope Lew can get by on 10.9 mill.

What goes around comes around :)

With deepest sympathy to my brethren who got cut, I still have to say this. This is Lew Dickey's company. He conceived it and he built it. This is his baby. He runs it. He gets up every morning and works to make Cumulus bigger and better. At least as far as we know from what we read in the trades.

I guess that this is what separates him from the Wall Street fatcats who get hired to run a company they had nothing to do with fathering.

However, I guess we all understand the resentment. Radio is a tough business right now. I believe it will get better, but meanwhile, I'm thankful that I'm presently on the outside looking in.

So did those of us, not just in Brewer, but all over the country, who got axed today.

In the interests of privacy, I won't pass on the names of those who lost their jobs today. If they want to share that, it's up to them.

The Budget Axe is swinging in other markets.
Not sure of all, but Cumulus is making cuts
in the Quad Cities IA/IL Market as well.

How about this, cut the pay at the top if the
business isn't doing well!
It's mostly to do with their failures anyway!

Yikes! Who exactly got fired?

Im guessing no one from WBZN did, they barely have enough people for weekdays- let alone weekends.....
And to think Bangor might get another CHR
ha, I dream too much
:(

****I KNOW NOTHING OFFICIAL***WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO READ IS SPECULATION***

I've visited the web sites of the 5 Cumulus stations and I'm only guessing by who is missing.

From WEZQ, WWMJ and WDEA, all is the same. From WQCB, Dave Glidden. From WBZN, Meredith and Chuck Foster and all weekenders are all missing.

If you folks are gone, I'm sorry and I hope you find employment real soon!

If I'm mistaken, please accept my apology in my speculation.

I know Meredith has been cut (she said so on the Z myspace page), but Chuck Foster

I am speechless......

this can't be happening!

What are the doing now for nights? Sat.? no-DJ? ???

I feel for everyone involved here. I know it is very tough. I have not posted since Kimishot told me to "go back to bagging groceries" and that "I seemed to have the IQ for that." Try to remember that your commuication skills are INVALUABLE. The time you have spent Marketing and talking to customers will translate to other jobs. Especially in this economy, talking to customers/listeners is more important then ever.

What Joe said LoL

Maybe we shouldn't have music radio anymore. Perhaps everybody should have a talk show. No ASCAP fees, and you can get away with 15-18 minutes of commercials each hour.
