Cumulus Broadcasting Stations are now being deleted from TuneIn Radio.

I have noticed the change just now, as The Second-Largest radio chain-which owns Top 40 KRBE here in Houston, and its DFW cluster-which includes KLIF-AM/FM & WBAP-AM/FM are now heard exclusively on Clear Channel's IHeart Radio. Iheart Radio happens to be the largest downloaded radio App while TuneIn Radio, which is backed by Cox, Ennis. Radio-One & Entercomm-happens to be the second-largest.

Tunein can be listen worldwide and iHeartRadio only inside USA borders and all Bradcasters are on Tunein except Clear Channel, CBS music stations and now Cumulus.

Good riddance. Get rid of all the crappy Cume-LESS stations. Ever since they sold 103.7 to EMF (ironically a Christian format) they've been on my shitlist. Still, I've gone over a month without listening to comm radio in Houston.

Well besides that, Cumulus has just sold KFNC to David Gow; And right now, I think KRBE would be a whole lot better if it's owned by Cox-The same company that owns 93Q and The Eagle. I believe Cumulus wants to just get out of Houston ASAP.

Your argument would be better if you didn't include The Eagle as an example of good radio management.

I might use I Heart Radio if it didn't always ask me for Facebook log in info.

You can sign up for a login without Facebook. Also, you can listen to live radio without signing up at all, though you won't get custom stations and iHeartRadio originals.

I use it and have never been asked for Facebook log-in info. I've got no Facebook, so I'd be out of luck if that were a requirement.

I totally disagree with you on that Troy. Cox would a nail in the coffin for KRBE. Look at their other stations. They are run very cheap with lots of voice tracking... I could go on and on but I've had along day and I'm trying to do this on my phone. I'll elaborate more later. Bottom line the krbe we know and love would be no more under cox. I pray they don't get their hands on it.

You don't think they don't VT the hell out of KRBE? I swear, half of the comments I read on here seem to be written by bitter radio people that don't understand that to be successful, you have to change with the times. VT is a reality at almost every station in town.

Radio, just like every other media, has to make money. To do it, they adapt. I don't think many people like to idea of voicetracking...but, they do it to control costs. I've got a better idea, let's all volunteer to take a pay cut and demand that every shift be live.

Bitter people seem to be attracted to this board. I log on once or twice a week to see what's happening in in Houston and other markets where I have worked.

I don't have much time to post negative comments, I'm busy working.

Even Barger's KAHL San Antonio voice tracks.

It is kind of like saying lets not use computers at that radio station, or touch tone telephones for that matter.

There's a reason why most people who work for Cox stay there for a very long time.

It's a good place to work.

Thats the problem with big corporate radio.. these companies bought up all these stations and now in order to keep every single one running they have to cut back because now they cant afford to pay anybody because of all the other costs, studio space, electricity, etc.. You cant cut back on those things so.. the talent and quality of product suffer

I've got to correct myself: I've been asked for the Facebook info, but the option to use my e-mail address is also presented. Since I have no Facebook, I use the e-mail address.

I contend the price paid for many of these stations owned by the big boys led to the situation.

Some of the smart things they did including moving all stations to one facility to lower costs and then cutting out duplication of work among the stations (ie: one news department versus five, etc.). It seems after all of this, more cuts were needed.

Visiting one group's major market studios one evening with one of their employees, there was one person there. This person was jocking one of the stations while the rest were simply computers in other studios. Even this 'live' jock voicetracked their live show. We conversed right through the :50 break that had been recorded moments earlier. I remembered thinking how 'live' really pushed your skills to make every break perfect and you became somewhat of an expert of making a mistake sound like it was 'planned' and supposed to be. I would have loved that optiion on those really 'off' days or when you were sick and doing your shift.

Or you can just tell it "Maybe later" and not have to give them either one.
