Cumulus CHR's improving?

WRQX sounds terrible right now. I thought they were dropping the 80's/90's stuff to transition to CHR, but instead they're just overplaying the songs everyone got sick of 6 months ago on WIHT.

WIAD sounds much better and they're beating WRQX by .6 in the latest ratings. I'm very curious to see how this latest change for WRQX affects the ratings picture. My prediction: WIAD up, WASH (the local AC) up, WRQX way down.

Hopefully this will happen to all the Cumulus Hot ACs and send them a wake up call that they might want to consider localizing playlists

Now that Cumulus is using iHeart Radio for their internet platform, it puts their CHRs up against Clear Channel's on the same player. It gives you the impression just from scanning the stations and comparing, that *** is more adult friendly and CC is more Rhythmic.

Y 102 has the right idea for a retro lunch. They play 90s and early 2000s music for their lunch. Better than WZYP's still stuck in the 80s lunch.

LOL yeah, I was just gonna say, Cumulus CHRs improving? Not WZYP in Huntsville! Still just as bad, if not worse, and still 80's at lunch and Friday mornings. Who ever said lunch time HAS to have old music anyways? Why does every damn station do this?

To be fair, WZYP has added 90s tracks to thier lunch lineup. However, why can't they invest money and get a dj from 10 AM to 3 PM?

I-106 in Nashville played "The Motto" by Drake and Lil Wayne during the Bert Show. Given what I've read about Cumulus, that surprised the hell outta me!

^Cumulus really isn't being any nicer to rock-leaning acts either - no Grouplove, no Jason Mraz, no Neon Trees

They just plain keep it "safe" and don't take any chances on anything

Yes Star 105 is hot right so glad they switch to CHR because smooch fm suck's!
Thank's Cumulus!

Leading the Taking Off list on AllAccess is "She's So Mean" by Matchbox 20, and almost every station listed as adding it this week is a Cumulus station. Wasn't Matchbox 20 banished to HAC a long time ago?

ONLY Cumulus and ex-Citadel stations have added this on CHR! Just because of one person's decision it has already entered the top40 of the CHR chart! Insane!

It's interesting how a hit can chart based on the exclusive airplay of one company. We saw a similar occurrence with Madonna's "Give Me All Your Love" that was propped up thanks to Clear Channel.
