Cumulus & Citadel

Mike, 'Platinum' didn't work the first time...
What's sad about the whole Platinum thing is they were really starting to get their groove when the plug was pulled. Platinum was great those last few months, it appeared the ratings were on the rise too If I remember Correctly.
At any rate it was nice to hear the oldies KLUV can't play anymore.
But I suppose thats what KGVL is for now.

I thought the music on Platinum was decent, but overall the format was lifeless. As for hearing the songs KLUV won't play anymore, any station where the disc jockeys talk over the intros, play Palisades Amusement Park commercials, and call The Rolling Stones the Rolling Uglies, is something I like. I'll stick with KGVL even if Platinum does come back.

I'll agree with you there...
Platinum's Music was good, but KGVL's presentation is so much better,
plus there's more Rock & Roll 8)

So what ever happened to the Cumulus move to Victory Park? They announced it and I haven't heard anything buzzing around about it since. I'm assuming they are waiting to see if the Citadel purchase goes through first... or have they started building?

The Victory move is proceeding as planned. Space has been leased and lots of engineering and the like is underway. A new engineering manager has transferred in from another Cumulus market to oversee the project. There is a lot to accomplish before actual construction begins at the new location, although some finishout may have already started.

This was all a "done deal" long before the Citadel thing was (publicly anyhow) on the radar..

So is Cumulus accounting for possibly of adding the Citadel stations to the new facility? That would be a bummer to build a nice new place and then have to figure out a way to shoehorn a bunch more stations in there... :-\

i93 to i96

93 becomes another Twister something as a flank on the rimshot signal that remaining KSCS staffers ride their contracts out on and Jan Jeffries gets to go after 106.1 with a new and improved signal on 96.3.

I'm still trying to figure out what is worse, CumeLess or Crap-to-sell. The stunts they pulled after the buy-out of the Indian really would make me want to run the other way, quickly, if there was a hint of them taking over a place where I worked. Then again, one would think not much could be worse than working for Farid the Fraud.

Where do you think Farid learned his "fraud"? OH YES!!! Things could be MUCH worse. Just think about having to work for Farid's former boss...Mel Karmazin! NOTHING could be worse! Just ask all (better said, the few!) remaining XM employees now forced to deal with Mel's band of idiots, pulling all the strings from New York.

Sad...very, very sad...

Ok, I was wrong about the Metro newscasters. I had misunderstood my Metro contact. Only the traffic people work together in the Metro office. I apologize.

Cumulus is worse by a long shot. Lew Dickey makes Farid "Fagreed" Suleman look like Santa Claus. Those at the ex-ABC properties who thought it couldn't get worse after the second time Citadel cut their benefits will be in for a very rude awakening if this deal happens. Remember, two years ago, Cumulus cut 7% of its employees, and Lew Dickey took a performance bonus for a job well done in 2008, despite having cut even more employees for budget reasons in October of that year, just days after the bloodletting.

Yeah.. I heard CumeLess were pretty damn bad when they took over in Dallas too. It's just too bad these big lousy companies don't go ahead and go broke for good. Selling off properties a license at a time would be better than making these companies custodians of their licenses they don't really deserve.

"So what ever happened to the Cumulus move to Victory Park? They announced it and I haven't heard anything buzzing around about it since."

Two large flatbed trucks were delivering a lot of sheetrock and metal framing studs to Cumie's new dive at Victory this past Friday Morning.

How convenient this will be...camera-hog Gordon Keith can walk over to Ch 8 anytime he wants to, and get all the facetime he ever dreamed of. Maybe they'll give him back his "show." ::)

Scientists are working on four things:

1) War on Cancer
2) Extraterrestial Life
3) Warp Drive
4) Why people find Gordon Kieth funny.

They said they could find the truth but need more funding.

To me, Gordo is funny -- often genius -- as part of an ensemble, not responsible for carrying the show. When it's him who's the star, not so much buddy.

Gordon's 8:40 bits are often very, very funny, but as a sidekick he sometimes gets on my nerves. He swings for the fences entirely too much.

NYE Big D is ok.

But when he started being a part of it I turned it off. Give me Dick Clark instead!

They went local too early and I watched WWOR in New York instead!
