820 is one of, IIRC, 5 clear-channel (not to be confused with Clear Channel) frequencies in the nation. Full-time blowtorches. And WBAP has a radio history and legacy stretching back almost to the very birth of radio. If anyone in the new combined Cumulus/Citadel company understands history at all, WBAP will not change.txchipk said:1700 will no doubt be sold to meet FCC market caps.
I would break the 820/96.7 simulcast. Since 1310 only provides decent Dallas coverage, I would make it be the 96.7 simulcast --- so make WBAP on 96.7/1310 and give KTCK a full signal on 820.

Really? Yeah, that format worked out well, didn't it? About as good as "Memories" worked.
Last time I checked, the goal of a station is to get ratings and revenue. "Memories" and "Platinum" never scored on either count.
And please, spare us the "bring back Smooth Jazz" arguments!

IDEA 1-A: Keep KLIF-FM i93.3 and KLIF-AM 570's formats as is and spin them off to a trust or its own company "KLIF Broadcast Division", because it wouldn't be logical to keep both news/talk stations KLIF-AM and WBAP-AM in the same roof. Keep 96.3 KSCS as is, rebrand it as "The Wolf" and change its HD2 to "Real Country" via Citadel Media. Relocate "The Texas Twister" (Texas Country) to KPLX 99.5 and change its HD2 channel to "24/7 Comedy Network". Sell KKLF 1700 to an independent broadcasting company and make it a community news/talk station, kinda like KHTS-AM in Los Angeles.
IDEA 1-B: Change WBAP-FM 96.7 back to the Oldies format as "True Oldies 96.7" and reinstate the HD signal. Add WBAP-AM simulcast to 96.7's HD2 channel.
IDEA 2: If Cumulus can handle the News/Talk station wars in the same roof, I'd say scratch the spinning off idea and add "The Ticket" to 93.3's HD3 channel. Keep 96.3 KSCS and its HD2 signal's formats as is. Sell KPLX 99.5 The Wolf to CBS Radio. Relocate "The Oasis" from KMVK 107.5 HD2 to KPLX 99.5 HD2 for better coverage. That would also mean selling KMVK "Mega 107.5" to a Spanish broadcasting company other than Univision (they already have a similar station - 107.9 La Kalle).
If y'all have any other ideas, spill 'em. It's gonna be a station shake-up either way.

These are some of the most idiotic ideas I've ever read on here. And I've read plenty. Why idiotic? How dumb would it be to move one of the highest billing stations in the market (Wolf) from 99.5 to 96.3, and replace it with Texas Twister, a station that failed miserably? You don't mess with success, so why move the Wolf from 99.5?texasstooge said:I have a few ideas for the Cumulus/Citadel stations:
