Cumulus heading up group to buy Susquehanna

Cumulus will only have a 25% stake in the new company. The rest will be privately held. It will take sometime for the FCC to approve the sale so I doubt there will be any changes soon. Mojo, WARM 965 The STAR will probably be safe.

But the article also says that Cumulus will get paid a "management fee to run the stations." So doesn't that mean that they'll ultimately decide what formats stay and go?

I've only heard what Cumulus does in its Youngstown market, where they have a solid performing classic rocker (WYFM 102.9), a solid country station (WQXK 105.1 Salem, reaches Akron, Canton, and Youngstown markets), a hot AC/former top-40 which some say has seen better days (WHOT 101.1), a modern rocker (WWIZ 103.9 Mercer), satellite-fed soft rocker (WLLF 96.7 Mercer), a news/talker (WPIC 790 Sharon), ESPN radio (1240), and a standards, I think (600 Salem).

I don't know much about how management does things, but I would agree with microbob that Warm and Mojo stay... they are both solid performers in the market whose target audiences seem to enjoy them. But, could 96.5 be changed into a top-40 and go after Kiss, or maybe a classic rocker/hits to take away from Fox? I dunno... I no longer live on the fringe of the Cinci market, so it has been a while since I've been able to listen...
