Cumulus' Latest Rumor Mill

The Susquehanna Plaza Building may soon be housing a Cumulus owned Country station --sooooooooooo-- say goodbye to WSOX, which is rumored to be going ALL automated like they have done in some cities in the USA. That would leave all the remainder of the WSOX staff on the beach with the exception of Fuzzy Summers, who would move over to WINK to do afternoons and that would mean no more PD needed for WSOX or York's WINK. This could go down by Feb. 1st.

Oh yea, another country station.

Central PA needs a real alternative station (Radio 104.5 style), or an FM talker more than another country station.....sheesh.

WIOV studios will be moved to that building from Ephrata. Their current location is in such bad physical shape that Cumulus does not want to spend the money to fix the building. It is cheaper to add them to the York building. It fits within FCC guidlines for a main studio. Cumulus was not sure where to relocate the AM main studio for the Reading station and meet FCC requirements.

Here's an idea. Move WIOV to 96.1....then on 105.1, flip to a variety hits format made just for Lancaster and Berks Counties. Call it JAKE FM and get Woody Himmelberger to do the imaging. 96-1 Chake FM...ve play vat ve vant...now vonst. Could be a big hit in Dutch Country! Just call FOX 43 to get in touch with Woody. HAPPY DAY!!

I've been told there is room for another studio in Susquehanna Plaza. I've also heard that all the studio moves will occur in the next couple of weeks. The trust stations...92.1 and 102.3...will be in the former Citadel facility in Camp Hill. WQXA and 106-7 move into the current Cumulus building with WINK 104 and HOT 93-5. WIOV moves to Susquehanna Plaza.
