CUMULUS - MAINLINE - SALEM - CLEAR CHANNEL - Somethings happenin'

In 2008, we could see some swaparoos. Primarily Salem goes away. I really like Salem, a good company with good values. However its very well understood that station sales happen, we all have to meet a bottom line.

First: EMF to buy a market grade signal in Louisville to suppliment their operations in the market. Most likely to bring "K-Love" onto a decent in-market signal. My first thought is 105.9.

Second: Mainline has no desire for 105.1. The signal more or less takes up space in the building. What I could potentially happen is Mainline sells 105.1 to Cumulus. Cumulus then moves their ESPN station to 105.1 and simulcast on 101.7 (after buying 101.7)

Third: Clear Channel sells Cumulus 93.1, 101.7 and 790. So this gives them 4FM and 2AM signals in the market. (790, 1450, 93.1, 93.9, 101.7 and 105.1)

Fourth: Cumulus moves the ESPN radio format up the dial to both 101.7 and 105.1 as an ESPN Simulcast covering a majority of the metro. Then Cumulus replaces 93.9 with an AC format (similar to 93-9 in Indy) to compete with WVEZ. Cumulus keeps some form of Rock on 93.1 as they love their rock formats (most likely dumps intellectual property for something more fitting and with less baggage).

Fifth: 94.7, 900 and 970 all get dispersed between Mainline and Cox.

How ya doing kentuckymedia. Why hasn't mainline done anything in louisville yet???The only thi ng they have done is fire mr bradley at wdjx which i am sorry to see go it was nice having a live voice human voice to listen to in the wee hours. And i see the latest numbers came out wlrs is doing worse then ever how come they have done nothing to 105.1 yet? I am just suprised mainline has not done anything in louisville yet!!!Is it because they are gonna get rid of them very very soon??? I bet anything if espn does go to 105.1 it would do better revenue wise then whats there now. Time will tell. It would be a trip if this city ends up active rockless but i do not see that happening but who knows. I bet if the fox is sold they will stay rock.

1. Salem will not get sold in 2008.
2. Clear Channel will not sell 790. DUH!
3. EMF might buy 105.1 from Mainline or 93.1 from Clear Channel.
4. Cumulus WILL buy 93.1 from Clear Channel or 105.1 from Mainline.

Salem made a ton more money in Millwaukee than they did with all the Louisville stations combined and they just made about TWELVE MILLION there. Why wouldnt they sell Louisville who is one of the lowest billers in the company?

The Los Angeles Lakers traded there highest paid player Shaq, and decided to keep the lower paid player Kobe. Salem sold Milwaukee instead of Louisville. Salem needed some money, so they sold a market where they knew they could get some, Milwaukee.

E-Tu!

Salem hasnt announced which markets it will and will not sell yet. Louisville just seems so entirely out of place for them right now.

Expect The Unexpected. I'm sure people who use their cell phones alot and send lots of text messages instead of watching the stations know that one.

The flip will happen.

Ah, Radiogeek...thank you for tugging me out on the carpet, slapping me in the face a few times and spitting on my shirt.

However, my point on some changes taking place. WGTZ. I do remember nearly 2 days before the flip saying that they will put an Adult Hits format on there.

I also remember saying that Delilah would end up on WMMM Toledo. There are plenty others too...Key changing their name to Forcht Broadcasting of Kentucky, Cat in Lexington hiring JB as their PD...I can go on and on.

Anyhow, I heard first hand that country will eventually move to 103.1 And the reason it hasnt flipped, BEACUASE THE HAVENT BUILT THE FLIPPIN TOWER YET!!!!!!!!

You know nothing about the Louisville market. It's very evident that you have never worked in Louisville.

I dont know if you consider WGTK and WDJX as radio stations then?
