Well now that Citadel is officially Cumulus, Northeast PA now has a Cumulus cluster (their websites already reflect this). Think most of their offerings are pretty decent, anyone see any changes coming in the future, or will Wilkes-Barre stay under the radar?

I do not know and at Cumulus Media in Wilkes-Barre. I am just a listener and know somethings about radio. I do not know know to much about 97X. I think Magic 93 is the money maker for the group. This is what I think might happen.

1. They could let the highest paid pepole go at Magic 93 and put Rick Dees on mid-days like they did with Mix 97.7 in Poughkeepsie, New York - http://www.mix97fm.com/ - They could keep the lowest paid pepole that are on WBHT and Magic 93.

2. They could do something with WBHT and put Todays Best Hits - http://www.todaysbesthits.com/ - Make sure and look under DJS. Magic 93 is playing alot of new songs now. They could put AJ and Ralphie on Magic 93. AJ did mornings on WBHT. They could let Frankie go on Magic 93 and put AJ on mornings on Magic 93 and put Ralphie on nights at Magic 93. For the drive home it could be Stan Phillips with Rick Dees on the mid-days and overnights could be ran by automation.

3. http://www.bestcountrytoday.com/ http://www.jr937.us/ Make sure to look under DJS on both wb sites.

Any other thoughts?

Magic is a cash cow so probably no changes there.

WSJR 93.7 is ripe for the picking. I might move WBHT to 93.7 / 95.7; WBSX to 97.1, and go Country on 97.9.

Or: BHT on 97.9, BSX on 97.1, and make JR 93.7/95.7

WBSX totally under performs as a Class B and is probably the second most vulnerable to a format change / frequency change nexdt to SJR.

WARM will chug along as True Oldies.

Cumulus would be foolish to touch Magic. Frankie is an institution. The station performs well and probably makes mucho $$$$$
If anything, Cumulus should dump Rick Dees at their other stations. He sticks out like a sore thumb.

Why in the world would you want to let Frankie go? That makes no sense. Leave magic alone.

I'd move BHT to 97.9 and give it an equal signal to go against KRZ.

Put BSX on 93.7, and the two 97 frequencies

They can't compete against Froggie in Country so get out of that game.

Any other thoughts?

Sorry. I'm not Frankie. Just a listener. Cumulus wouldn't be that crazy to mess with this station, would they?

Well I think Frankie is one of the highest paid. I think he will be let go to bring in someone new to mornings. They will not mess around with the format.

Why? Just because of $$$? Really? How much money do you think he helps bring in every year? I'm talking beyond the ratings now which I'm sure are stellar? He has relationships built up with many clients. Do you really want to cede mornings to Rocky & Sue at KRZ? Because that's what you would be doing.

I go over to Poughkeepise, NY alot. Over in Poughkeepise, NY they let a long time morning show host go on MIX 97.7fm. They also let the mid-day host go too on MIX 97.7fm. Big companys only care about $$$$ and not who is on the air. So they could let the highest paid go and have Rick Dees on mid-days. I do not want to see Frankie go. I am hoping they will keep every one but time will tell.

KRZ has Rayn Seacrest on the air from 12pm - 3pm and if I was running KRZ Rocky and Sue would not be on. I would have a younger morning show hosts on.

How was Mix performing....ratings and revenue? Doesn't Lite 92 win the AC ratings game over there. And the revenue that goes along with it? Magic is one of the strongest performing stations in NE PA. Business certainly is good on the station. I've listened to Rick Dees and the show is a disaster. It goes against stations that are driven by music during the workday. As most AC's are. Part of Magic's success is the staff gas been together for a couple of decades now. Here's hoping Cumulus doesn't make the same mistake here as it has elsewhere.

If Cumulus subscribes to the "station is the star" philosophy, no one at any station is safe. Follow the money. If someone is making too much for the company's taste, you know the rest.

When something is clearly working AND you're making money, there should be no issues. Magic is fine.

Famous last words.

Look what the company did in Atlanta this week.

I hope I'm wrong.

The difference is in Atlanta both companies were operating stations. So there will be some cuts taking place. In Wilkes Barre, that's not the case. I would think there would be no cuts at all..or very minimal.

The way to tell if the axe is ready to drop? "We plan on adding staff and increasing our public service to the area."

Cumulus just cleaned house in San Francisco and LA including the pd at KGO who had 120 straight Arbitron wins. It's all about the money and how much debt Cumulus aquired from Citadel.

They will definitely be letting some back-office people go. And I see some automated dayparts coming for Magic.

Another house cleaning at WABC and PLJ...12, including on-air staff shown the door.
