Unless you slap Kidd Kraddick or Ace and TJ on in the morning, CHR is hard to win unless you have a lot of disposable money and are only looking for quick cume.

WFDM is a pea watt Rim Shooter and it doesnt even get ratings. WFDM also has the former Cumulus WWFT lineup. The only reason why WIBC is thriving is it moved from AM to FM with its heritagealmaniac27 said:lovejamminoldies said:FM Talk will NOT work in Cincy, lol. CHR, it is.
I wonder why not. It works in Indianapolis (WIBC and WFDM)
kentuckymedia said:CHR can be done on a shoestring budget, but in Market 28 its going to be a little harder.
Here is the thing, CC is now left with only two FM stations that do well in the ratings, so they are going to poor any marketing money they spent on WOFX and WNNF into these two signals now. While they will still run WKFS with only three local staff members, the other two dayparts have good staff in place.
Bonneville owns the other CHR in town and while it may not be as flashy as WKFS, its a solid station that has regained a good reputation. Its got money and Bonneville money at that, so literally GOLD BARS in the basement of Utah to back it up. If anyone is going to take on Q they better have GOLD BARS in their basements too.
WKRQ is a billing monster. In December the station was #3 right behind WUBE. In November it was #4 right behind WRRM.
WKFS bills in the Top 10 every month, but when your spending your agency dollars, your only going to spend it on two stations in that format at most..not three. Most agencies like WKFS ratings, but they are too young for the dollars that move.
WKRQ does well with core women, WKFS is a little broader with men and women alike.
kentuckymedia said:I don't know if I agree that Q can be damaged as easily as you say. Of course any radio station is vulnerable, but remember Q has Bonneville which has money. Q has got a top rated morning show and afternoon drive. Cumulus would slap on a syndicated morning show to save costs.
Here is the monthly billing for Cincinnati CHR
WKRQ: J08 #4
J08 #4
A08 #3
S08 #3
O08 #4
N08 #4
D08 #3
WKFS: J08 #9
J08 #10
A08 #9
S08 #8
O08 #10
N08 #11
D08 #9
WNNF: J08 #14
J08 #15
A08 #14
S08 #14
O08 #12
N08 #14
D08 #14
Sure, Cumulus could launch a CHR and surprise us all. And even KS said that it will work together with WRRM as a partner. With WRRM consistantly jumping from 3rd to 5th and back to 3rd, Q could easily be their target. However WGRR is not the next station waiting in the wings. It would allow CC to jump into the Top 5 billing wise. KS also said that the changes wouldn't be immediate and large, they would be minor modifications. I think they have something with WNNF, just needs a better focus.
