Cumulus strikes again

I don't know all the details, but apparently Skywatch Traffic has filed suit in Davidson County court against Cumulus for breach of contract. Apparently just dumped traffic reports with no warning, ticking off Skywatch sponsors. etc.

According to this article, this was related to Cumulus replacing the low-rated "106.7 The Fan" sports format in favor of the current all-hits "I-106":

However, it appears that the Nashville Post has put a paywall on their website, so if you want to find out all of the details, you have to be a Post subscriber.

Meanwhile, I could see why Cumulus wouldn't think traffic reports would gel with a CHR format, as opposed to the previous sports format. How many traffic reports per day did the old "Fan" run?

Are you saying CHR listeners don't drive? In a market like Nashville, I would think traffic reports would be the near the top of the list of what listeners want from all stations?

Not necessarily, but depending on how often Skywatch was used on "The Fan" per day (per hour?), perhaps it would get in the way of the music on I-106.

And let's not forget, it's Cumulus that is ultimately suggesting that CHR listeners don't drive by yanking Skywatch before it flipped to I-106.

Just like interactive program guides from cable/satellite providers are pushing TV Guide toward extinction...

And why does VCR Plus still exist?
