If Cumulus does take them over it'll be interesting to see what changes go down @ Reverchon Plaza. I wonder if they'll shitcan part-timers and bring in voicetracking.

Say what you will about The Bone and The Wolf but at least Susquehanna staffs them on the weekend - unlike some other craptacular clusters in the market.

I was under the impression that Cumulus had not even bit... it was Dickey himself as a separate entity that did.

Report: Cumulus Close to Susquehanna Radio Deal
The deal to sell SUSQUEHANNA MEDIA's radio station is closer to fruition, with the NEW YORK TIMES now reporting that a group headed by CUMULUS, the BLACKSTONE GROUP, and BAIN CAPITAL is close to a deal for over a billion dollars while SUSQUEHANNA's cable interests are headed to COMCAST for a price short of $800 million. The deals aren't complete as of FRIDAY (10/7) and could still collapse, the paper warns.

Could this be the end of The Bone and maybe The Ticket??

Please quote your source since the Wolf,
The Bone, KLIF, and The Ticket are all
Traffic.Com affiliates.

Bone maybe...Ticket doubtful. They might do something to the other AM though. KLIF isn't performing well.

Velvet, just curious ...

Do you work for either Metro or Traffic.com?

One point which I don't know, but if the other Cumulus stations, or a majority are with Metro, his speculation makes sense.

Inside Radio has just corrected previous reports...

"We think the Appell family wants to announce both the radio selloffs (to a group led by Lew Dickey) and the cable selloffs (to minority partner Comcast) in the same breath. Today's New York Times says Dickey's backers include the Blackstone Group (as Inside Radio reported on September 29) and Bain Capital (but not Deutsche Bank)."

In other words, Cumulus' Lew Dickey is forming a new group to buy the stations, and this group, not Cumulus, is the potential buyer.

This is a billion dollar deal involving over 30 radio stations.
By the time the new owners go through the process of changes at the corporate level, evaluating the performance of the different "pods" and the markets they are competing in, listening to consultants, doing focus groups etc. it should be at least a year before any changes trickle down to formats or air talent at individual stations. The Ticket is a cash cow and to a lesser extent, so is the Wolf. The Bone will flip to "the next hot thing" and heads will roll at KLIF eventually.

BIG BIG BIG KLIF

You're kidding me, aren't you?

Even with the Top Cat doing the traffic?

What could they possibly do at KLIF? They have made some,I said SOME progress over the past three years, but nothing spectacular. There might be a changing of the PD,GM,but that will be about it.It happens all the time. Don't expect a lot with new ownership.

I've been hearing about this for the last few weeks. As I worked for Cumulus about 18 months ago, I still have friends who work there. This potential deal has been the talk of the office, and several people asked corporate about it when they came to town. They've told me about what they know of the potential deal, and it sounds like what you're saying, which is that Lew Dickey and some other investors will be buying Susquehanna but it does not directly involve Cumulus. When one of my friends asked one of the corporate staff about the details, he said, "They didn't deny it [that an affiliated group but not Cumulus would be buying Susq]." Needless to say, most of the people I know from Cumulus are absolutely LIVID over this because they'd like to see Cumulus get some major market stations so their Cumulus stock value would go up, and they think that's not going to happen.
