Cumulus to dump Limbaugh, Hannity

POLITICO.com is reporting this morning that Cumulus has decided unless a new agreement is reached, (and it doesn't seem likely), both Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity will be dropped by Cumulus at the end of the year. Cumulus is apparently unwilling to shell out money to Premiere Networks to reup both Rush and Hannity and Premiere wants top dollar. It's not surprising to anyone who understands the radio world these days that Limbaugh, Hannity and their ilk are highly toxic and advertisers are fleeing them faster than the passengers on the Titanic.

The deal will only affect the 40 or so stations that Cumulus owns that airs one or the other or both, but they include New York, Chicago and LA. Clear Channel, who runs Premiere has already bought WOR in New York with the idea of transferring both of them there in 2014. Hopefully the handwriting is on the wall and radio stations across the country (including a former heritage station at 1080 on the dial) will get the message that airing these two slime and smear merchants is bad for business!!!!! It couldn't happen to two "nicer guys".

No, not really...

Rush just signed a three year deal with Cumulus; he'll be staying on just about all of their stations except NYC. There he's supposed to broadcast on WOR. Which means they didn't dump him. Which means that in the end, no matter how loud radical far left people rage over Rush, money always wins.
