Cumulus to spin off 2 Toledo stations?

CUMULUS is placing more stations into its "STRATUS RADIO, LLC" trust in order to set up the spinoff of the stations to meet FCC ownership restrictions. STRATUS is headed by SCOTT KNOBLAUCH and is the proposed assignee of a previous CUMULUS spinoff, WBCK-A/BATTLE CREEK.

The stations being spun off include Adult Standards WNZZ-A/MONTGOMERY, AL; AC KYNF (Y 94.9)/PRAIRIE GROVE-FAYETTEVILLE, AR; Top 40 WNUQ (Q 102) and Urban AC WZBN (simulcast of V 101.7)/ALBANY, GA; Top 40 WMGB (B 95.1 )/MACON; Urban AC WTYB (MAGIC 103.9)/SAVANNAH; Sports WKOR-A/STARKVILLE, MS; Top 40 WTWR (TOWER 9 MONROE MI and Classic Rock WXKR/TOLEDO; Adult Standards WSOM-A and AC WLLF (96.7 THE RIVER)/SALEM, OH; Urban AC WCMG (MAGIC 94.3) and Country WHLZ (WHEELZ 100.5)/FLORENCE, SC; Sports WJXY-WXJY (THE TEAM)/MYRTLE BEACH; Classic Rock KLTD (EAGLE 101.7)/TEMPLE, TX; Hurban KGEE/PECOS-MIDLAND, TX; Country KOLI (THE OUTLAW)/ELECTRA, TX; and Oldies WOGB/KAUKAUNA-OSHKOSH, WI.

Believe Cumulus had too many stations in Toledo under current FCC multiple ownership rules: 5 FM's== TWR, RQN, 94.5, 99.9 and 105.5 +two AM's 1470/1560. Limit for Toledo would appear to be 6; but the changes over the years grandfathered Cumulus.

However, Cumulus traded 106.9 Canton to CC for their Ann Arbor cluster, and then went private. TWR may be too close to Ann Arbor; and by going private Cumulus lost whatever grandfathering they had in Toledo. So some stations have to go.

Or at least put into a trust, pending any changes to the multiple ownership rules, and the finalization of the privatization.
