Just getting married, looking into moving to "Paradise" .. what are the Pro's and Cons on fliving in HI and working in radio there vs someplace on the mainland like Florida?

With all of the CRAZY weather that has plagued Florida over the past two years, it is HARDLY the "paradise" that many people portray it to be. Please think twice before moving to the "Sunshine State". Hopefully for me, my next convention in Orlando in June will not be pre-empted with yet another hurricane! Hawaii is TRULY beautiful, BUT you're gonna pay a young fortune just to live there.. compared to living on the mainland. Hawaiian vacations are not cheap. Just imagine the cost of living there. But if you're are un-attached (no kids, no spouse) and willing to pay for the luxury of living there, GO FOR IT! (My wife truly enjoyed Kauai!) Aloha!

The Islands aren't that big and its expensive to get out. Good for some people; others not. Your mileage will vary.

Salary Vs cost of living is way out of whack! Job market is limited too. Expensive to get there as has been noted, and if you're like most Island fever will set in within 6-9 months, then you'll be heading back to the mainland. On the other hand if you're thinking of moving with just your clothes, are not claustrophobic and don't mind scraping by for a few months while you set up, it's the best place in the world to live. Spend 6 great years on Oahu and Maui, have lived in Florida too, and there's no comparison.
