CURRENT TV now really starting to change format

Last night Al Gore's not-so-successful Current TV started a real big step towards a format change when they aired two movies back-to-back, including "Being John Malkovich."

It is sad that they are joining the bandwagon on becoming way more commercial and more homogeneous like the rest of cable satellite networks such as Weather Channel, etc., etc. etc.

What's this? Current airing a movie not titled "An Inconvenient Truth"? Yeah, they're really reaching!

The border towns (at least) deserve access to CBC or CBC Newsworld from Canada.
If they must change, that's what they should change (back) to.

The think having NewsWorld International back on many cable/sat line-ups would be a welcomed relief for several people seeking something other than screaming partisan "news channels" who, aside from bickering amid the ten-split-screen panel, don't know when to put the 15-hour old "breaking news" headline to rest.

Based on when I first watched Current TV shortly after it debuted I am surprised it has lasted this long.

Current TV was an interesting idea and did produce a few interesting documentaries and news stories, but for the most part it was/is self-indulgent hipster-ish video reports.

lol, Silly me, forgot to mention it's not CBC Newsworld anymore.
They relaunched the channel and gave it the new name CBCNN (CBC News Network)
I guess if it could be restored on the American side, that would make it CBCNNi 8)

Just don't confuse that for CBCNN :D ;)

GOTTA STAY CURRENT! [apparently, that's done by copying everyone else]

Now they are into repeating movies. I guess they are now down to showing the movie "Constant Gardener" at every opportunity.

What is shocking is how heavy their commercial load has become in short order, causing the program material to be hacked up beyond comprehension.

The time is for Al Gore to shutter the channel, or just revert the channel to (what has been suggested earlier) CBC News Channel.

Sad.

I actually used to love Current TV's old format of 15-30 minute PODs. It was truly different televisions, varying from a documentary to a comedy piece to a musical program.

What I'm sure is that Al Gore probably has little to do with the network in the programming stance, however, the network wants to make the programming more conventional for a wider demographic. Not everyone wants to learn about the newest, hottest indie band in Los Angeles or the culture of China, what people want is Seinfeld reruns and pop trash shows, and if that's what's going to keep the network alive, Current TV will gladly put it on the air.

Agree 100%. As far as the cable TV is concerned, the US-Canada border is like a one-way glass; Canadians can see in but Americans can't see out.
