Curtis properties

On the Raleigh/Greensboro board are horror Curtis property stories. No upkeep, bare token keeping the properties up if any, outdated equipment, constantly micro-managing, very worn out and broken
equipment, and cheap pay among other stories. Is the true? Goldsboro was an example mentioned. If true,
why does anyone work for Curtis?

OK, I'll bite. I worked in Goldsboro back in the 90's, on the property that's now a highway off-ramp. I recall the equipment was old, but certainly not the worst I've ever used. That honor would go to WGTM, but that's another story. Even though the equipment was old, it was well maintained. Engineer Lew kept it all tied together. If something broke, it was repaired in good time. The building was not great, but it was fairly clean. Staff morale was about a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10, but I personally enjoyed my time there. The people were terrific to work with.

Was everything perfect? Nope! But hey, it was a workplace, not a resort. I'd go back in a New York minute. Only thing is.. it's an off-ramp to a highway.

A. Hartwell Campbell is probably spinning in his grave.

They moved just up the highway. Before their old site became an offramp (I remember that day, thinking, "where did that bent tower go?"), they had a bent tower. It was kind of funny in a sort of hope it doesn't fall on the building way.

Yeah, CMG can be a bit, er... frugal. But just tour a Willis station and see what it really means to milk a station for all it's worth. The FCC should shut down every Willis property and convert them into broadcasting museums. The feds could charge admission to offset the budget deficit.
