Curtis Sliwa leaves WABC

Wowser, Sliwa is leaving WABC, possibly for the Salem owned WNYM(give him a nice morning slot Salem...) Actually WOR should pick him up just like they did with John Gambling. As for WABC they just got flushed down the crapper even further. Somewhere over at TRN Phil Boyce smiles and is proud of his work.

I believe Kuby is available. Maybe under contract with Air America. Someone should see the opportunity to put the popular team back together.

I remember hearing that they had great ratings on WABC but didn't bring in enough in advertisments

Will John Batchelor be on WABC 6 days a week from 9:00 PM - 1:00 AM or will someone else get the slot on Saturday night?

Thanks

Bruce

I predict either (a) more syndication, or (b) a popular local host at a co-owned station from another market. Perhaps KABC or WBAP.

OK, what was this guy's appeal in the first place? I know he had his 15 minutes of fame as one of the founders of those subway vigilantes (or what ever they were), but this guy has got the most grating voice I've ever heard. As far as content, to my ears he was just another conservative talker, I didn't hear anything unusually compelling about him.

Doug McIntyre from L.A.?

McIntyre already airs on WABC between 5-6AM doing that special early morning "newshour" for Imus previously done by Charles McCord. I don't know if he would want an evening gig or not.

Its pathetic really, two years ago WABC had four local weekday hosts; Sliwa and Kuby in AM drive, Gambling mid-mornings, and Grant in the evenings. Both Hannity and Levin were not syndicated at one point. Sliwa only started national syndication last year, so he really is the last local host on WABC. The specter of Boyce finally won.
