CURTIS SLIWA MORE TIME, MORE STATIONS?

There is a report that WABC will move Curtis Sliwa to the 10PM-1AM this coming Monday which could leave Bob Grant with only one hour and bumping out Laura Ingraham.

Sliwa may also be heard on KABC on delay, WMAL in Baltimore and the station he's currently on in Boston.

If this rumor is true, WABC would need to fill the 5-6AM slot Mon-Fri , and even more the 10AM to Noon slot.

Thanks,
Kevin L. Sealy

Some good suggestions on the New York Radio Message Board, like putting Bernie Mcguirk on from 5-6. That would be a good idea, with Bernie able to do a mix of his own commentary and splicing in some of the best of Imus, just like Z100 from 5-6 has the best of the Morning Zoo before the Zoo itself actually starts up at 6. Another option of course would be to do what WOR does with Joe Bartlett's first news at 5 prior to Gambling. They could have a News Hour with Charles Mccord or in the alternative Babita Hariani from 5-6. In the mid-day slot I like the suggestion of either Jeffrey Lichtman or Laura Ingraham live. I would also consider approaching someone like oh I don't know the always-brilliant Nancy Grace and consider trying to build a show around her.

I can't imagine Lichtman would do the show as he's a very successful lawyer. Why would he want to do radio fulltime? He would be my choice but it doesn't seem possible.

Hopefully WABC will put Ingraham on live! That would make WABC live 24 hours a day during the week.

I would also recommend Bernie Mcguirk for the 5am-6am hour. He would be a good lead-in to Imus.

Moving Sliwa from 10pm - 1am would make sense as it exposes him to a wider audience and he can easily simulcast in Boston live. The 5-6am slot is the issue, as in my opinion, all of WABC's morning drive. Imus is TERRIBLE, he is a complete sellout, afraid of his own shadow, but if they did keep him on, I would plug Bernie into that slot. C'mon noone is stupid, it wasn't by chance ABC gave Bernie the gig on Election night, kind of an "audition". Running Laura Ingraham live at 10am would be great, but aren't you losing an hour of her show by doing that? Also, Coast to Coast AM has to go. Listening about the Lochness monster and aliens from outerspace are not selling in the New York market.

I'm sure they'll run Laura live. Bank on it.

That one hour you speak of is that "local only" Imus hour. It would be the only local daily programming on WABC's lineup outside of Bob Grant. With that said, I'm sure they'll eventually take all three hours of Laura.

I don't think Laura's show will go on live; all that means they would be doing is moving people around. Not enough of an impact.

Mark Simone makes it quite clear every 10 minutes he is just subbing temporarily. I think we give the 5-6am slot to McGuirk. The 10-12 slot is dicey. I say, cut Imus back an hour, make him go only 6-9 and have 9-11:45 (don't forget 15 minutes of Paul Harvey) with either Ingraham or Simone.

Simone? After Imus, before Rush, Sean and Levin? Thats a joke right?

"Levin? Thats a joke right?"
Levin daring to even share the same mic as a pro like Simone is too sad to be a joke.

Levin has a lot to say which people want to hear. Mark is smooth. But does he say anything of any interest in the year 2008?

Does Levin say anything that he hadn't already I.M.'ed for Sean to say during the previous 3 hours?

Well, Levin is wildly popular and is very smart and topical.

Simone is better as a Master of Ceremonies and is great with the Razzle Dazzle.

You are right...he is very popular. I can't tell you how many times I've seen him at talk conventions in the hotel lobby bar all by himself. I guess all those PD's that take him as part of the Hannity package don't have much to say to him.

I'll take Levin over Simone any day. I think Simone is a class act, but the biggest problem with him is that he's too friendly and too nice. There's nothing more delightful when Levin goes off on a tangent screaming and yelling about all the ways the liberals are ruining the country, and screaming at callers to get off his phone. His tag line " Get off the phone you big dope!" is a pure delight.
