Cut backs at CC and Tsm

Wow - Clear Channel locally both in the Hv and in the Tri Cities cut many on Wednesday and Tsm locally has been cutting every other Friday sense Austin came on, as many as 10 so far, and I don't beleive they are finished. Sales has been restructured, traffic and production will probably be centralized and the staff at gna will be cut down too. Times are tough in radio. So far Abc seems to be holding some what steady.

Yep! There is alot of good talent on the beach. We will need a bigger beach but there could be a awsome radio station there..

Why does everyone assume there are cutbacks at TSM? They've filled alot of the positions of those who were let go. Perhaps they noticed some holes in their cluster that needed to be filled -
At CC - they are cut backs - they basically said so in their nationwide press release. I think they're goin jockless to re focus the station - and that doesn't always mean a change in format.

Terry is all by himself for now at WQSH , all jocks are gone , darcy went her own way not sure if she takes a spot on any of the other stations at TSM.

No changes in the format still the 90's and more , Terry might add one morning person , himself and evening shift kinda like what WPTR The Legends 96.7 is doing trial and error go jockless for a while see what happens ratings increase they might slowly add a jock or too.

something tells me at some point they will only hire part timers down the road radio companies are trying to save money.

They can't go completely jockless because they need to promote the station

I think Terry's idea is to go jockless until after xmas then slowly add jocks, lets see what happens.

all new imaging will be added as well they might get right of the saying the 90's and more not sure.

I know the all new saying will be gone from Crush FM

tongue tied last convo was trying to say they might get rid of the saying the 90's and more or keep it not sure, you will hear more 80's 90's and today variety

It would seem to me that there are a large number of radio personalities who have just worked their last day in that industry. Many of these jobs will never be restored even with a good economy. Most of these persons will have to find other forms of employment. Since many of these over the air people have very good speaking skills, many may end in sales or public relations, etc. In some cases, they will look back and say leaving radio was the best thing that ever happened to them.

According to Scott Fybush this week that Hudson Valley's CC had the following persons who all being let go this past week are Rick Knight, Michelle Taylor of WRNQ's "Lite-FM", Dawn Morvillo the traffic manager, Cameron Hendrix the new director and the legendary "Downtown" Lou Brown are all being let go. I remember Lou Brown a lot, but I used to listened to him WBPM's original "B94" back in the 1990's prior to that, he was on WSPK's "K104" back in the 80's before he went to "B94". He was on "Rhythm 94.3", "Cool 94.3" before it was sold to Cumulus and went country as "The Wolf", and then he went "Lite-FM" and last but not least WRWD until the very end of his radio career. I missed him so much. Rick Knight was also PD at other CC stations. He used to do afternoon drive on WBPM's former "Cool 92.9" when it was an oldies station before Pamal took over and then he was on "Lite-FM" doing the Saturday night dance show as "Studio 92" (at the time when WRNQ simulcasted the two stations like WFKP when it was "Studio 99" and WCTW former "Lite-FM" as "Studio 98") and WRWD. I remember Cameron Hendrix did the news on other CC stations for many years with Joe Daily, but I don't see Joe Daily left his morning gig at "Lite-FM" anytime soon, but I don't see Bill Williams being let go from both WZCR's "Cruisin' 93.5" in morning and WCTW's "The Cat" as afternoon drive anytime soon. We'll see what happens next.

Curious about cut backs at tsm. Seems like they're making moves to make a mediocre station better. Will it work? Who knows.

radeoduude some of my sources are saying there will be no more cuts at TSM however Clear Channel will have more cuts I am hearing.

you are right though I think TSM is heading toward that goal to be better overall

There will be more at both, office centralization and proposed budget cuts will go into place by the end of the year or so . it's a given.

actually bug one of my sources works for TSM and he tells me there are no more people getting fired from there

Here is what you said under another Subject (How to get back in): So you source has changed it information.

"how about local sales job for ABC or Clear Channel they always seem to hire sales hmmm wonder why

My sources tell me TSM is getting a whole new sale staff so things will get interesting

they say this is true in radio you don't got a good sales staff you don't have a good overall radio stations

because you need advertisers to really make money "

well bug they actually kept the sales manager just added some additional positions to the sales dept

sorry my statement wasn't as clear

I'm beginning to think that "101" doesn't really know what he's talking about... Since he's said that he isn't in any of the buildings... Perhaps you should check your "sources"?

i just get the info from my friends who work in various stations in this radio market they could be right they could be wrong

ok radiogrrl518 lets get back on track this isn't about me it's about the albany radio market
