So I got this "poor man's Optimod" for microbroadcasting, described here. Wondering if others have feedback, no pun intended, on this gear.
I find it definitely adds a nice punch, but the cheap power supply hums. I'm not sure how much of that 60-cycle hum comes from the compressor versus how much may already be in the Chinese junk I plugged it into. I wonder if I can replace the power supply with something smoother. It's already coming out of a double-conversion filter but I have to orient cables 'just so' to notch the hum until it's near-bearable.
