Cutting Radio Station's Guy Wires Started Catalina Fire

KBRT (740 AM) is a Los Angeles market station that transmits from Catalina Island. Contractors were replacing the guy wires to the towers and were using a gas-powered saw to cut the cable. The saw started the fire that threatened Avalon, the main population center. Ironically, the fire spread in a direction away from the station, and the transmitter was not damaged.

KBRT is a religious station owned by Crawford, and its Website asks for our prayers!

Today's Inside radio says that an engineer's circular saw (NOT a general contractor) generated the spark that started the fire.
