Earlier this week, legendary voice talent Charlie Van Dyke received the news that he will be inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame.
Long before he was making millions in the voice-over business, Charlie was an incredibly talented radio personality who did more than one tour of duty at KLIF in Dallas.
I’ll go out on a limb and say this audio dates back to Charlie’s return to Dallas in 1977. The subject of the call is fellow KLIF personality Dave Ambrose, who actually lived just down the street from us in Bedford. His son Troy and I were best friends as kids.
Dave was a fantastic jock himself, who spiced up the airwaves with his 'girl talk' show. Something he loathed, but was great for ratings. Hence the comment about the book "Portnoy's Complaint" -which turned many a face red back in the day.
