CVS Samaritan Van

For many years (going back to the old 920 WJAR-AM) with John Scanlon at the helm. The van used to help
disabled motorists. And also provide traffic reports. Is the van still out on the roads? If not. When did it stop?

CVS Samaritan Van is still on the road.. I spoke to the driver about 45 seconds ago!

Having worked for WJAR-920 (in the early 80s)...I remember the CVS Samaritan Van. The lady (I think her name was Samantha?) used to do LIVE traffic updates when Charlie Jeffords was on the air. The 2 had great chemistry in that quick 30 second segment---not to mention a whole lot of traffic information! ;)

Commerce Insurance has their own CaresVan ( http://commerceinsurance.com/documents/CaresVan.pdf ) that patrols "the major Central and Eastern Massachusetts highways, not including the Mass Turnpike". It's sponsored by MassHighway and AAA. I usually see these vans on I-290 in Worcester. However, I don't think (that I know of anyway) that these vans do any actual radio traffic updates.
