CW 52 for Bangor/Orono?

I glanced at the TV grid in Monday's edition of the Bangor Daily News and noticed a listing for CW 52, along side of channels 2, 5, 7, 12 (Orono) and 13 (Calais). Is this a cable-only channel? I looked at the digital assignments for their market at rabbitears.info. Nothing shows up for channel 52 at all. ???

More than likely, CW52 is a cable-only service provided by the local CBS affiliate (more than likely, WABI-TV, Channel 5), or the cable system itself. If it were OTA, we all know that Channels 52 through 69 will cease to exist, come 2/17/09. Chances are, it could be a sub-channel of one of the network affiliates in Bangor as well. I'm not really up to date on the comings and goings on Bangor TV as of late. My old buddy Scott Fybush, might be able to elaborate about the CW in Bangor, provided he isn't busy with his new bundle of joy ;) .

From what I understand, CW is provided on WABI's digital subchannel, 5-2. Thus, 52. =)

So the newspaper is listing channel 5.2 as "52"? OK, whatever. Won't confuse a single viewer! Anyways, I see they also mention a low-power PBS station on channel 30. Why? Does analog channel 12 have holes in their coverage?

Apparently, WCKD-LP 30 was once W30BF. Dunno why it existed then, but now it's a TBN affiliate.

EDIT: Wikipedia claims W30BF was part of "MPBN Plus" which was, at one time, a secondary PBS service.

I was in Bangor in the mid-90s, and I can confirm that ch 30 was indeed MPBN Plus, IIRC that came out of WMEA Biddeford. Out of curiosity, does the BDN carry listings for "Fox 8", WAGM's digital subchannel? And for that matter, still carry CBAT 3/CKLT 9 out of NB?

No, they only listed WAGM as a black bullet with WAGM in it, instead of an 8. No FOX subchannel on 8-2 listed either. As for Canada, I think they listed a channel 4 CBC station from New Brunswick and that's it.

after the MPBN Plus thing flopped, WBGR Channel 33 bought the station and LMA'd it to Channel 7, the ABC station and the station became UPN. When WVII Ch. 7 tried dumping UPN for Fox, and UPN claimed breach of contract so 7 let the LMA go to focus on another low power (the current Channel 22)..eventually it flipped to shopping then TBN

That 4 would be CBAT...BTW, when was CHSJ (CBAT's predecessor) dropped from TVG's ME edition? They were still listing it in 1981... ???

Last I knew the BDN carried 2 canadian channels in their listings...CKLT and a Channel 4 that is a CBC affiliate, although I forget the calls. WAGM's Fox isn't listed, I think the only cable system it's on is the Time Warner system in Presque Isle (which actually serves most of the county)
