CW Atlanta

I see that UPN Atlanta has the new CW ATLANTA logo already posted in the right hand corner of its syndicated shows. I thought the launch day was in September? Must be testing or technical error.

They have changed over already. Callsign still WUPA, although that may change in few days.

I wonder then what the call will be? WCWA-TV? Perhaps.

UPDATE - It looks like WUPA will remain their callsign. All of their new green-and-white CW Atlanta graphics have "WUPA/WUPA-DT Atlanta" embedded in them.

However, like when 97.1 The River waited four months to change callsigns, WUPA may change theirs at a later time.

There is a WSTR-TV WB station in Cinncinnati and we have a WSTR FM station here. I would think not. I think it is rediculous to keep the current call letters now that they make no sense.

Or WFLA-TV and WFLA-AM and FM.

Not like it really matters. Call letters are pretty useless. Dave FM is still WZGC.

Would they need permission from Clear Channel as WCWA is used on one of their radio stations in Toledo, OH? ??? ::)

Yes, you need to get permission from the current call letter owner before you slap a a suffix on it.

And just because they're calling CW by the old calls now, it doesn't mean they can't change it..easily. Getting new calls takes some time anyway.
