CW Dying?

I hope "Veronica Mars" can come back. It's the only show I watch on CW anymore. Despite being a wrestling fan, I DON'T watch "WWE Smackdown!" like you might think.

When WB changed over to CW, I figured that it was a big mistake. A huge mistake for that matter because the station in Austin (KCWX) is the only station around San Antonio that carries it and it is only on cable and only as a low power station in San Antonio and it is Channel 2 at that. The farther south you go, you don't even get a signal at all, not even on clear days. So when KRRT now KMYS which was the WB soon to be CW changed to My Network, you said goodbye to The Gilmore Girls and 7th Heaven the farther south you go unless you have a satellite system that carries a CW station.

Enough about that. I would much rather see Spurs basketball on the My Network than a bunch of silly soap operas starring a bunch of faded movie and TV stars. And I would much rather see The Gilmore Girls start over with new episodes on ABC Family than anywhere else since they have exclusive rights to the reruns of the show.

The funny thing about that is that KCWX is a San Antonio station, "powered" by KENS, that just happens to be licensed in an Austin market community (Fredricksburg). Austin has their own CW -- KNVA. Because of this, the Time Warner system in Austin blacks out KCWX during CW programming.

The headline in the tuseday "Living" section of the AJC read: WB + UPN = Weak CW

With the viewership of television declining because of more people choosing
their own schedule by DVR, TIVO and Time Shifting with a DVD recorder,
The CW Network and My Network TV may not be the only ones that may
disappear soon, you can add ION television to that list, i don't think anyone
is watching them because they never appear in the ratings.
There are two Spanish networks that may take their place, especially if NBC
winds up taking over ION, Telemundo and maybe, Univision.

Only in broadcasting could you take two up and coming fresh new networks, put them together and make one weak network.

UPN came on with the Trek franchise and a few other good shows. Later on the WB caught on and featured some refreashingly good shows.

CBS/Paramount/Viacom and Time Warner this is the first year of the combined network. If combined you can't run it at a loss for a couple of years give it up and just stick your money in the stock market.

Oh and just because we are using our TiVo's and VCR's to time shift it doesn't mean we're not watching okay?

I'm getting tired of my favorite shows getting cancelled only to be replaced by other shows that get cancelled before I ever get the chance to watch them once. I'm also tired of the shortened TV seasons. Start putting good shows on while everyone else is in reruns!

Lots of my friends have given up on series Television, I'm starting to figure out why. My fear is soon it will all be just reality TV and cop shows.

End of rant....thanks I feel better!

Even stranger is that KENS monitors the signal, but the programming is actually generated out of the Belo building in Dallas. So, if the fine folks at KENS see a problem, they have to call Dallas and have them deal with it, unless it's a transmitter issue. And because Sinclair is SO CHEAP (owners of KABB/then KRRT, now KMYS) they decided to go with MY Network over the CW. I believe everyone of their WB affils are now MY Network.

Not necessarily, out here in Vegas, the CW affilaite and the MY Network affiliates are both owned by Sinclair...

Does anyone have the actual rating numbers from last year? As I understand it (correct me if I'm wrong,) before the merger, last year was the first times UPN beat the WB in the ratings.
