for some reason, when I click on the link to listen to this aircheck from www.airchexx.com, I receive an error that no posts matched my criteria. Any idea what's up? I'd love to hear this. Incidentally, WHN's signal may have been strong in the immediate NYC area, but it was almost non-existent in Central NJ where I lived. WABC, WNBC, and WNEW AM all boomed into Central Jersey, but WHN was hardly there at all.

WHN 1050 had to protect KYW 1060 Philadelphia.

Toward the NW, everything was clear until you got near 1050 CFTR Toronto.

Ahah! That makes sense. I hadn't thought of that. I lived right in between NYC and Philly, and KYW did come in nice and strong, but a gentle twis of the dial slightly to the left produced only a faint hint of WHN. Even at night, CHUM Toronto would drown out WHN.

Yes CHUM. How could I forget, that CFTR was 680. I think it was 680 and CHUM is 1050.

That is correct. As a matter of fact, I used to hear CFTR faintly at night, in the background, when I would listen to 680-WRKO, in the Boston area, in the early '70s.....

This might be from the tapes I sent to Matt at Big Apple Airchecks. Matt has been kind enough to preserve scores of tapes I saved from my days at WHN, which included lots of the guest deejay shows.
