CW & MY In Miami

JeeperOne

Hi everyone:

If someone has already thought of this, my apologies. But here goes...

Considering that CBS owns the current UPN affiliate and Tribune owns the current WB affiliate (with CW going to the CBS-owned station I believe), I'm thinking that unless Ed Ansin either buys WBZT (?? on calls) as part of a duopoly for WSVN 7 to put MY on (or unless FOX does the same for MY), I think it's pretty safe to that getting MY on in Miami will be a quagmire at best.

Or am I just uselessly speculating again? Scary thought.... :) *LOL!*

Thoughts? Corrections? (I know there's at least one of the latter!) :)

Cheers :)

Pat, why do you keep on bringing up Ed Ansen? This is the second such post where you've tried to create some kind connection to Ansen and the CW thing. Granted he owns a Fox affiliate, so I'm sure My could end up on a WSVN subchannel. But as has been discussed (ad nausium), Ed is neither buying or selling anything. There is otherwise NO connection between MyTV, CW and WSVN or WHDH.

And yes, you are uselessly speculating again. But hey, speculation is fun...
Anyone have anything to add to this?

Business makes strange bedfellows. When push finally comes to shove, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see CBS-owned stations like WSBK and WBFS (and, for that matter, Tribune stations like WPHL and KTWB) sign up to take some of the My programming. They may or may not end up branding heavily as "My," but they need programming and My needs the clearances.

So far, Fox doesn't seem to be trying at all to tie My affiliation deals to existing Fox affiliations. That's probably a smart move. Why close off any options at this point?<P ID="signature">______________

I find it hard to believe that CBS would ever partner with up a company that they so decisively tried to isolate by cutting all of Fox's O and O's from UPN. But, you're right, this business does have some strange pairings, who knows..

But I still don's see WSVN or WHDH having anything to do with this, and that was my point.

Fox made that decision. In Minneapolis, Orlando and Phoenix, the current UPN stations could have sought a CW affiliation as Tribune is not in those markets but due to the situation in places like NY, LA, and Chicago, Fox chose to do their own thing.

They would've had to do their own thing in LA & Chicago where CBS owns KCAL 9 and Tribune owns KTLA 5 and WGN 9 (The latter two whom will get the CW affiliations in their respective cities) anyway. So really, your point is....

Cheers :)
