CW To Be Sold? Nexstar Among The Suitors.

Maybe the CW can bid for TV rights for AEW Dynamite or NWA Powerrr

or WNBA or NWSL
i just don't see Nexstar having the budget for live sports on a national basis and that i don't see the CW lasting past 2024 as a network with original programming, i could see CW going the way of MyNetworkTV under Nexstar, as in a repeat farm competeing with MyNetworkTV, MeTV, Cozi, Antennna TV and Ion.

We seen Azteca America going away because they don't have a scale, ratings and resources than TelevisaUnivision and Comcast have the advantage so they can expand beyond the hispanic markets so I'm worried about EstrellaTV especially with is previous 2017 bankruptcy. Also Nexstar just launched a national news operation, it will take some time to change its programing much like in 2007 when CW axed most of the leftover WB and UPN shows. Btw neither MeTV (other than a handful of full power stations on X.1) or AntennaTV never had satellite carriage while COZI is now available on DirecTV both satellite and stream.

Here's a "Wild Card": Could Nexstar buy the CW, cancel all it's entertainment programming, and convert it into a simulcast of News Nation with stations picking up News Nation 24/7 and affiliates getting the option to break away from News Nation for a few hours a day for local newscasts?

That could possibly happen since Newsnation don't have any news from Noon to 4pm but since the CW in most markets probably don't have a newscast or a borrowed newscast for example KCWI 23 in Des Moines airs channel 5 News at 9pm which is a repeat because at the top of the screen it says previously recorded. If they drop pretty much all syndicated programming and pick up a rebroadcast of the 11am News on ABC 5 and replay it at noon on CW 23 that leaves 3 hours of syndicated programming or the last prediction is that they could pick what hours of Newsnation they want to carry and the rest of the hours for syndication. So for example they could air News from 5am to 10am from Newsnation then 10am to 4 or 5pm then from then to 10pm News from Newsnation and syndication from 10pm to 5am. Also it could give the other affiliates a little bit more to choose from syndication as we're now getting double runs of Kelly Clarkson on CBS 8 and The People's Court and Judge Mathis on KDSM 17.

I saw this nugget in an article about one of the long-running shows on the CW that's being cancelled:

The young-skewing CW network faces an uncertain fate: Local-TV giant Nexstar Media Group recently acquired a 75 percent ownership stake, with plans to target older viewers and add low-cost, unscripted programming. Longtime network head Mark Pedowitz departed The CW shortly after the acquisition was finalized.

Since then, Supernatural and Walker prequels have not received backorders (though Season 2 renewals are still a possibility), due to a decision made by the network’s new Nexstar-appointed president Dennis Miller. In addition, two of The CW’s other scripted originals were recently cancelled. DC’s Stargirl will end with Season 3, and Nancy Drew will close its story with Season 4. Fellow veterans The Flash (entering Season 9) and Riverdale (entering Season 7) are also set to end next year.

The company makes much more money collectively from the individual stations from 4 or 5am to 10am than they could trying to sell national spots for a show that would compete against the other network AM News Shows. The Fox Stations would stay local and clean their clocks on every level.

CW’s Carryover Programming From Paramount, Warner Bros. Discovery Will Be ‘Minimal’ by 2023-2024 Season, Nexstar CFO Says

The writing was already on the wall, but now it’s getting bolder: The CW’s carryover programming from its former parent companies Paramount Global and Warner Bros. Discovery will be “minimal” by the next broadcast season.
“Programming for the CW is in place for the 2022-2023 broadcast season, that extends through the end of August/early September timeframe of next year. You’ll see that programming is consistent with what the programmers have historically had on the air for that timeframe,” Nexstar executive vice president and chief financial officer Lee Ann Gliha said during the company’s Q3 earnings call Tuesday. “Over the course of the next year, we’re really working to develop our slate, which will then come online in the 2023-2024 broadcast season. We will have some carryover commitment for the CBS and the WBD programming in that year, but it’s minimal at that point.”

As long as nexstar don't turn it into a downgraded version of itself like what they did to wgn turning it into newsnation.
I must be in the minority here, but I like and appreciate “NewsNation.” I hope it eventually airs nothing but news-I appreciate its lack of bias. It is also advertising that it is hiring; any room for Robin Meade?

It should go all news because marathons of blue Bloods and last man standing gets boring. Wgn use to be a good channel but then so did alot of channels. With it being called NewsNation it should be all News.

CW should air some of the news shows from NewsNation. NBC already does this with NBC News Daily and Top Story with Tom Llamas, which come from their streaming channel.

That's for Daytime and Late-night. But I think the CW stations that don't carry news or airs news from other networks like in des moines they air the 9pm news which is pre-recorded from abc 5. If they got rid of that and added a 9pm national NewsNation Primetime newscast it may work. Can't be any worse than the syndicated National Desk that airs this could be more in depth for NewsNation (Nexstar) owners which now owns CW which could benefit them for their broadcast and National networks.
